We never know our potential until we try...do the thing you have been wanting to do...don't give in to those thoughts of self doubt, they can keep us feeling stuck, dissatisfied and unfulfilled.

Sharing Our Story
One of the key elements to being successful in recovery is sharing about our experience. When we share with another person about our experience, we not only begin to master our past by taking a little power out of any shame it still has for us but we also share a piece of hope with the other person that things can improve and recovery is possible. I challenge you to share your story with someone and give the gift of hope.

Speaking Your Truth...
Resilience, Strength, Hope, Courage. We hear a lot about these words right now.
Google any of these words and you bring up a myriad of articles related to being: “insert your choice of word here” in the face of: COVID 19, Inequality, Political Unrest, and Natural disasters.
It’s true, we have faced a multitude of challenging issues this last year but what if we talked more about
Stress…
Pain…
Fear…
Loss…
Worry…
The emotions we have all been feelings but less comfortable to actually express?
What if we created space for these words just as equally as the aforementioned? Made space for the dark as much as we do the light?
We learn from going through the hard things and sharing our experiences about them with others, not talking about only the positive.
I challenge all of you to start sharing your truth today, find someone you trust and share the dark and the light. It’s powerful to have a safe place to share about your authentic feelings, that’s one reason why therapy, coaching, groups are so helpful.
If you need help identifying a same place to be your authentic self or a safe person to share your truth with, reach out to us at [email protected] or call at 530.324.2223.
We would love to hear from you!

Surviving COVID-19 and Quarantine
It’s no surprise stress, anxiety and depression levels are at an all-time high. Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness are common themes I hear in sessions with clients. Here are a couple things we can do to try and improve our daily mental health to combat the “COVID Cruds.”
1. Stay on a regular sleeping and meal routine. This helps take care of our bodies, the better our bodies feel, the better our state of mind.
2. Get your heart rate up. I know, no one likes to exercise, but even getting out for a 15-minute walk regularly is going to improve all those feel-good chemicals.
3. Talk to another human daily. In this age of working from home, emails and IMs have taken the place of actual voice to voice and face to face conversation. We are social beings, no matter how hard we try, we still need to connect with other humans on a regular basis.
4. Find an outlet. Journaling, art, running, talking to someone, therapy, etc… Finding an outlet to dump these feelings we have inside is essential. All this heightened stress and anxiety has to go somewhere and if we don’t let it out, it festers and leads to much larger problems.
5. Do something just for yourself every day, this can be something small and simple, like taking a bath, wearing your favorite socks, listening to that song that gets your body moving, writing with your favorite pen, cooking your favorite meal, etc.… Something that is just for you, that brings you joy.
There are many other tips and great articles out there, these are just a couple quick suggestions I have found work with others and myself. Good luck and stay safe.
