Dragons, it’s almost time!

The first day of the 2026–2027 school year is Monday, August 31, and we can’t wait to welcome our students back! Please remember that Monday is a half-day, with students attending in the afternoon.

First Day Schedule — Monday, August 31

Swartz Creek High School
Doors open: 11:00 a.m.
School hours: 11:16 a.m.–2:20 p.m.

Swartz Creek Middle School
Doors open: 11:00 a.m.
School hours: 11:26 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Elementary Schools
Doors open: 12:20 p.m.
School hours: 12:30–3:25 p.m.

Beginning Tuesday, September 1
Students may enter their buildings at the following times each day:

High School: 7:00 a.m.
Middle School & VLC: 7:15 a.m.
Elementary Schools: 8:15 a.m.

We Want to See Your First-Day Photos!

We’ve created a new First Day of School 2026–2027 sign featuring our CREEK Code, and we’d love to see our Dragons with it!

Save the attached sign and print it for your child to hold in their first-day photo.

No printer? No problem! Save the sign to your phone or computer and add it to the first-day picture you take.

Then email your photo to [email protected] with your child’s first name, and we will feature it on our district page.

Whether it’s a very first day of school, the start of senior year, or somewhere in between, we’re excited to have our Dragons back together.

HUZZAH! AUDITIONS ARE COMING!

Swartz Creek High School students — think Shakespeare is overrated? Love musicals? Want to dance, sing, act, build, paint, sew, run lights, or just be part of something ridiculously fun? Then Something Rotten! wants YOU!

Auditions are September 9th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Prepare 32 bars of a song from a musical (or about 1 minute), be ready to read a few scenes, and prepare yourself for a brief dance audition. New to theatre? Even better! We’d love to welcome new students interested in joining the cast, crew, or Drama Club.

The show runs November 20th - 22nd at the Swartz Creek Performing Arts Center.

⚠️ Something Rotten! is PG-13 due to mild language.

Swartz Creek High School families, please note an important change to the schedule walk-through information previously shared in the newsletter and on our page.

Due to ongoing work in the building, the updated schedule is:

🔴 Monday, August 24: The building will be open to staff only. There will be no student or family walk-throughs.

🔴 Tuesday, August 25, 6:00–7:00 PM: Freshmen and new students/families only may walk their schedules.

🔴 Wednesday, August 26, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM: The building will be open for all other students who would like to walk their schedules.

Please note: During both walk-through opportunities, students and families will be able to walk the hallways to locate their classes, but classrooms and common areas will not be accessible.

This schedule replaces the tentative walk-through dates and times previously published. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we continue preparing the high school for the start of the school year.

Schedule pick up and pictures are today!

📣 Attention High School Families!

High school schedule pick-up and school/ID photos are right around the corner! Here are the key details you need to know:

🗓 When: Thursday, August 20

⏰ Times: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM & 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

📍 Where: The Cage Fieldhouse (4110 Morrish Rd.)

⚠️ IMPORTANT: All forms MUST be filled out in PowerSchool prior to students picking up their schedules.

Can’t make it in person? Students unable to attend can access their schedules on PowerSchool after August 20th.

Schedule Walk-Throughs TENTATIVE Dates: We have TENTATIVELY scheduled time for students to walk through the school with their schedules. This depends on the construction projects, and we will confirm it by the end of this week. The TENTATIVE times are:
🎒August 25 and 26 from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM each day
🎒August 25 from 6:00-7:00 PM for freshmen and new students ONLY

Dear Swartz Creek Families,

This is a reminder that transportation requests for the 2026-2027 school year must be completed by Friday, August 21.

If your child will be riding a school bus this school year or attending AM and/or PM Latchkey, please carefully review the Transportation Instructions linked below and complete the required Transportation Change Request form in your PowerSchool/PowerParent account.

Important reminders:

• You must answer “YES” to the question asking if your student needs transportation. If YES is not selected, your child will not be assigned to a bus.

• Complete the form carefully, selecting the appropriate transportation option (AM, PM, or both) and the correct pick-up/drop-off location.

• Transportation requests may take up to 5 business days to be processed and assigned.

The Transportation Instructions also include information about setting up StopFinder, the district’s bus tracking app, as well as transportation instructions for students attending AM and/or PM Latchkey.

Attention Parents
We are excited to offer FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH to all students again this new school year, thanks to the Michigan School Meals Program! Even though meals will be provided for free, families need to continue sharing household income information in order for our schools to receive full access to federal and state funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to. Please fill out the form here: https://swartzcreek.familyportal.cloud/

Please also take a few minutes to log into PowerSchool and update your students' forms under the general forms link. These must all be updated before picking up your schedule on Thursday, August 20. Please make sure to update your phone numbers and emergency contacts.
