Coastal families, here is a transcript of the all-call that went out this afternoon:
Good afternoon, Coastal Pelican families! This is Dr. DeValois, your assistant principal, with some back-to-school announcements.
We welcomed our staff back on campus on Friday, and we are working hard to prepare for an amazing 2025-2026 school year. Placement postcards were mailed out last week. If you do not receive a placement postcard before our meet-the-teacher events, do not worry. We will have staff available with rosters to provide teacher information or direct you to the front office for support during the events.
Student supply lists have been posted on the Coastal Elementary School page, the Coastal Elementary Parent Network page, and the Coastal Elementary Class Dojo school story. Thank you for carefully reading each grade level's supply list. Our teachers work diligently to develop meaningful supply lists that meet the instructional needs of our students.
Next week, on Wednesday, August 20, at 4 pm, we invite our new kindergarten parents and guardians to attend the kindergarten parent/guardian meeting in the gym. This meeting is for parents/guardians only. Please do not bring your kindergarten students. Transportation staff will be available for kindergarten families to sign up for bus transportation. On Thursday, August 21, we invite all students and families to attend one of our meet-the-teacher sessions. The first session will run from 10 am to 12 pm, and the second session will run from 3 pm to 5 pm. These are pop-in events, and students and families will have the opportunity to tour our campus, meet staff, and sign up for bus transportation. No new student registrations will be processed during either event. If you have outstanding enrollment documents, please upload those as soon as possible.
Families, this upcoming week is a great time to begin building a back-to-school routine. The first day of school will be on Monday, August 25, for most students. Our doors will open at 8:00 am. The tardy bell will ring at 8:30 am. Our kindergarten students will have three staggered start days. More information will be provided to kindergarten families during the meet-the-teacher events prior to the first day of school. All families are welcome to walk their students into the building on the first day of school. After the first day of school, only kindergarten parents may walk students in on their staggered start day. Car rider families should begin using the car line on their student's second day of school. We will have staff helping on the car line and at the bus lot. Do not park in the parking lot and walk students to the door after their first day of school. More information about our arrival and dismissal procedures can be found in the Student Handbook, which will be provided to all students and families.
Coastal families, we hope you enjoy the weekend, and we look forward to seeing you next week!
