Today was rough. Stress of life and work got in my head. I couldn’t control my breathing and heart rate. My focus was off and it was an all around fight to get it done.

My lack of good warm up and probably electrolytes led to some foot and leg cramps post workout. Definitely not the worst I have cramped but still no fun.

Still figuring things out and trying not to stress about my current fitness levels. Grateful that I got more rounds in than I expected.

Onward and upward!!

First full week of training done. ✔️

Still early stages and consider these first few weeks foundational. I’m getting comfortable with what I have to do and building up my running and strength base.

I’m not too concerned with time or race pace. 😆 I still have to learn how to even measure that. I do know that I need to be conditioned to be racing for 2hrs as most 1st timers are at least that long.

🙏 What I’m grateful for:
- I didn’t get mad at myself for not doing 2 a day workouts
- I did something each day I planned
- I ran 4 miles unbroken
- I paced myself

🎯August goals:
- weekly running up to 10-12 mi
- start the heavy farmer carry
- 12lb wall balls
- 20kg lunges

Got myself into a Hyrox Women’s Doubles Pro event in Vancouver, BC this December. To say I am not prepared is a vast understatement.

I have been struggling for months just on the basic workout and I am constantly comparing myself to everyone else. Mentally, I am not in the same positive and energetic space as the other people at the gym.

Yesterday I signed up and cried with a ball of anxiety on my chest yesterday.

Today is day 1. No room for crying. It’s time to work and get my mind right. I need to focus on improving my strength and endurance on my own so that gym practice gets better. My partner deserves someone who is gonna do their best effort.

Here we go y’all!!!

Sometimes it’s hard to admit when you’re being a brat. That’s exactly what I have been for the last many months.
You see I have been expecting to magically get better, faster, stronger and meet the expectations in my head.

The problem is, my expectations are too high for the level of effort I have been putting in. Rather than reset my expectations or change my training strategy I just get mad and feel sorry for myself.

Rather than just push my body and train harder I have decided to do something different…Get my mind right. This may harder than training more. 😆

We did the 5k today. It was a great time. It is nice to just go out and have fun but still push ourselves a bit.

Even the rehearsal concerts rock. The kiddos are so great. I can’t wait to see how good she gets over the years. It’s hard to believe she hasn’t even been doing this a year. School of Rock knows what it is doing.

Today we got to hear their teacher perform and perform they did. Belting out some good tunes and shredding on the guitar.

Today was a slog of a workout. My entire goal was to regulate my heart rate and try to keep moving. Funny thing is my back was hurting prior to the workout but fine during workout. Now it is hurting a little less. I guess it’s a good thing I went.
Bonus is I got to check out more of the new Hybrid Athlete space. Can’t wait to start using that space.

So this workout isn’t much different than a typical CrossFit workout but I’m never mentally prepared for those either. I can’t say that I ever want to do these kinds of workouts but it’s a challenge and we need challenges in life so that’s why I keep coming.

All in all it was low-key and not stressful like I thought it would be. A good vibe with good people encouraging each other, which is the best of all worlds.
