Nexton's Wellness Committee worked very hard this year and once again received the MUSC Wellness Grant. This year Nexton received $750 from MUSC to continue to incentivize wellness for Students and Staff at Nexton Elementary.

"Never stop learning because life never stops teaching". Nexton is hosting a Summer Reading and Math Program. When students return to school, if they return these completed, there will be a prize for them. This is optional, but is very beneficial for all students to continue to progress in learning.

Our parents should have already received an e-mail about this exciting partnership. Students are encouraged to keep reading this summer -- 300 logged minutes using these special bookmarks can earn them a free scoop of ice cream from Sprinkles!

We’ve been keeping a secret 🤭🤓

At Sprinkles Homemade Ice Cream we are always looking for ways to give back to our community, so this year we created “Scoop it!” a summer reading program. We have partnered with 7 local BCSD elementary schools to give over 7,300 children the opportunity to learn, grow, and use their imagination this summer by reading 300 minutes and earning a FREE ice cream! 🍦📚

We are incredibly grateful for everyone at the BCSD who believed in our idea and helped make it a reality. 🫶🏼

Explorers have CHARACTER – our word of the month for April was HONESTY & INTEGRITY. We are very proud of our students for continuing to show outstanding character each month.

We also have a BONUS!!!! Nexton Elementary School was recognized as a Lighthouse School by Charleston Southern University because of our collaboration with Elementary Education Practicum and Internship Students.
