100 years of Summertown High School !!

Happy 100th birthday to SHS !!

With school beginning soon, the Fall of 2026 marks 100 years since SHS became a High School.

The school operated many years as a grade 1-8 school and many students did not attend school past the 8th grade. Any student wanting to attend grades 9-12 had to travel to Lawrenceburg or Mt Pleasant. Many of those students stayed in boarding houses in Lawrenceburg during the week as travel to/from Lawrenceburg was not an easy journey then. Many traveled by passenger train to/from Lawrenceburg.

In the Fall of 1926, a 9th grade was added and in the Fall of 1927, 10th grade was added, 11th was added in the Fall of 1928 and 12th was added in the Fall of 1929. The first 12th grade graduation was in the Spring of 1930. That class picture is shown below.

Linda Kaye Fisher passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 20th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved most.

Linda was a free spirit with a heart as big as her smile. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—tending to her plants, caring for her beloved chickens, and spending time with the people who meant the most to her. She especially loved hunting for rocks, searching creek beds and fields for hidden treasures, and enjoyed cutting and polishing the stones she found. She was also known for her playful sense of humor and loved pulling pranks on family and friends, often keeping everyone laughing with her mischievous spirit. Whether she was sharing stories, offering encouragement, or simply enjoying a visit with family, Linda had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved.

Linda was a faithful member of Chapel Grove Church of Christ and found great comfort in her faith throughout her life.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dusty Roberts, and her father, Robert Clifton.

She is survived by her loving husband, Tim Fisher; her mother, Pearl Clifton; her children, Cody Blake (Bee), Wendy Helson, and Stormy Fisher; her stepdaughter, Talysa Chase (Logan); her siblings, Sandy Ambrose (Kevin), Gale Wood (Gene), and Bo Clifton (Micki); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda was a proud and loving grandmother to Brady Blake, Braxton Blake, Brantley Blake, Trevor Helson, Jessi Grinnell (Lucas), Alison Lyons (Bryson), Shiney Seymore (Tyler), Dusty Raines, Tyler McManus (Caitlin), Maggie Harrison (Cainan), and Aidan McManus.

She was also blessed with five cherished great-grandchildren: Andrew, Aria, Arlo, Archer, and Elly, who brought her endless joy and pride.

Linda’s love for her family was the foundation of her life. Her greatest happiness came from watching her family grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Her laughter, adventurous spirit, and love for the simple things in life will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her love, laughter, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Brady Blake, Braxton Blake, Bryson Lyons, Trevor Helson, Lucas Grinnell, and Tyler Seymore.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Chapel Grove Church of Christ at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2026, with Ed Daniel and William Davis officiating. Mrs. Fisher will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Chapel Grove Cemetery in Summertown, TN. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
