💬 MEET KATHY BUTLER

Confidence was never meant to carry this much weight.

We tell girls to be confident.

To speak up.
To believe in themselves.
To be fearless.

But what happens when we make confidence responsible for everything?

Kathy Butler has spent more than 15 years working alongside girls and the adults who support them, exploring what really helps girls grow into strong, connected adults.

A Youth Development Leader and Girls’ Advocate, Kathy is a writer, mom, and relentless question-asker who isn’t afraid to challenge the assumptions we make about growing up and what girls need from the adults around them.

Her work asks us to look beyond confidence and consider something deeper:

What if girls don’t need to be more confident? What if they need something else?

Each year, our alumni engage in a day of service organized by our alumni committee. This year, our alumni are going to refresh one of Fauquier Family Shelter's transitional homes for a new resident. Children are welcome to volunteer as long as they are supervised.

Our alumni consistently give back to the community, contributing to our mission to create a thriving community through informed and connected leaders. Thank to all of our alumni for your care, compassion, and service.
