Be prepared for s**t not to go as planned. The best machines have their own design flaws. Installing a CC reader for a client yesterday we ran into the issue of door not latching.

The fix: I adjusted the striking plate to close more flush and allow the latch to flow freely.

I added 2 nuts and washers behind be latching bar to extend it, so the latch could meet it easily. While this wasn’t what I showed up to do, I was prepared with the right attitude, tools, and determination to remedy the issue.

The fix:

Most would have forced it. Maybe even ordered a new door latch or even crazier a new door.

The reason you want a flush close to your machine is …

1. Security
2. Health of the machine: if a draft gets in, it will cause product to lose temperature and/or it will freeze your cooling deck.
