Join OES PTA this Sunday from 4–6 PM for a fun afternoon of decorating the sidewalks before the first day of school! ☀️

Help us fill the walkways with colorful pictures, encouraging words, and inspirational messages to welcome our students and staff back to school! 💙

Message from Oakland Principal, Mr. Robert Casteen:

As principal of Oakland Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school website. Oakland Elementary is a Pre-Kindergarten through fifth-grade school serving the Chuckatuck community in Suffolk, Virginia. Oakland Elementary School is a warm and friendly school dedicated to teaching and learning with strong community support that focuses on encouraging quality, equality, dignity, and respect.

Our mission at Oakland Elementary School is to provide an educational program that targets success for every student, every day. Our vision is for all Oakland Elementary students to transition to middle school, high school, and beyond, being self-motivated, lifelong learners who are contributing members of our global society.

Oakland’s staff members are dedicated to academic excellence and hold each student to high expectations to ensure they are successful learners. We are committed to creating a safe and positive learning environment for our students and staff each day.

Again, I would like to welcome you to Oakland Elementary School. I look forward to working with you in the future and celebrating the achievements of Oakland’s students. Together, we can provide the best possible educational experience for all of our students.

The Oakland Elementary PTA has created an Amazon Wish List to help restock the teachers’ lounge with snacks and drinks they can enjoy during those busy back-to-school days.

If you’d like to help, simply purchase an item from our Amazon Wish List, and it can be shipped directly to the school for easy delivery.

Prefer to shop locally or have other items you’d like to donate? We’d love that too! Feel free to drop off snacks, drinks, or other teacher treats at the school office during office hours.

Every donation, big or small, helps us kick off the school year by showing our incredible staff how much they’re appreciated. Thank you for helping us keep our teachers fueled as we begin the 2026-2027 school year! ✨

Our students had an amazing time enjoying games, activities, friendly competition, and lots of laughter. A big thank you to our teachers, staff, and volunteers who helped make the day so special. The smiles on our students’ faces said it all!
