[Read]👇🏼 WHY I FINALLY RESIGNED FROM MY HEALTHCARE CAREER 🤯
I did it. I made the move to close the chapter in my life of being a professional caretaker.
I’m a natural born empathetic caretaker. So naturally I fell into healthcare as my profession.
I have a gift of looking past a residents limitations and fully supporting their potential and strengths. Nurturing what they love in their soul & guiding them to fulfill that.
I’ve learned a lot in the past 12 years. I started part time in activities at a nursing home. Then full time. Then promoted to Assistant Director of Recreation. After 5 years I realized it was not what I wanted in my life. It wasn’t my forever home. I took a leap of faith and rerouted.
For the past 5 years I’ve fulfilled a leadership role at a long term care university for developmentally disabled teens.
I’ve truly become a Jack of all trades, wearing the hat of a mentor, a trainer, a direct staff, a chef, an advocate, a PT, OT, ST, a communication liaison, a dr appointment supporter, a housekeeper, a COVID specialist/trainer, a goal implementor, an activity creator, a staff encourager, a paper work achiever. I’m sure there’s more...
I’ve also become a master of those things. I got comfortable. I needed growth.
After this past year of surviving the pandemic, I’ve realized it has come at a huge cost to my mental and physical health. I learned the downside of being empathetic.
Like so many others, I re-evaluated my choices in life. I dared to dream again. Exactly why I said yes to health coaching & being a Seint makeup artist!
Although my heart will forever be a caretaker- it’s time to close this chapter.
I’m beyond excited for this career change next month! I’ve found something that really lights me up at such an inspiring company! I’m curious, what do you think I’m doing next? 👀
So please, if you’re feeling stuck and burnt out, dare to dream again and then act on those dreams
