I am deeply honored and humbled to have been inducted today into the American Sport Jujitsu League Sports Jujitsu Hall of Fame and recognized as the 2026 Isshinryu Karate Grand Master of the Year.

My martial arts journey began in 1984 with Isshinryu Karate, and I could never have imagined where that journey would take me. More than four decades later, the martial arts have given me opportunities to teach around the world, write and produce instructional materials, train alongside some extraordinary martial artists, and—most importantly—build friendships that have lasted a lifetime.

No one reaches a milestone like this alone. I am grateful for the instructors and mentors who invested their knowledge in me, especially Grand Master Allen Wheeler, Professor Rick Moneymaker, and Grand Master Tom Muncy, as well as the many instructors, students and friends who have shared the journey with me.

I am especially thankful for my wife, Kasi Goforth Patrick, and my family for the years of support, patience, travel, seminars, late nights and everything else that comes with this life.

Above all, I thank God for the opportunities, people and purpose He has placed in my life. Any ability I have to teach or positively influence others is a blessing I never want to take for granted.

At 55, after more than 40 years in the martial arts, I still feel like there is so much more to learn, teach and accomplish.

Thank you to the American Sport Jujitsu League for this tremendous honor.
