“Silence is golden” might sound wise… but when it comes to money, silence can be expensive.
Start open conversations with your kids about what they already understand about money, and what they’re curious about. These simple talks don’t just build knowledge… they build confidence, connection, and a clearer path toward the financial future you want for them.
💡 Quick Tip: Turn everyday moments into mini money lessons—like asking, “Why do you think this costs more?” at the store. No lectures needed… just curiosity doing its magic.

I still remember the day it really hit me.
I had just gotten off the school bus in the next town over, and I couldn’t help but notice the other kids. Their clothes, their confidence... it all felt so different from what I knew.
And for the first time, I realized… I didn’t have what they had.
No one ever sat me down and explained money...how to save it, manage it, or grow it. But looking back, I understand why… my parents weren’t taught either.
It’s been a long road from my roots in Appalachia to where I am today. And truthfully, I wouldn’t trade my childhood for anything.
Except maybe one thing, learning earlier that there are possibilities beyond what you see.
I’ve been incredibly blessed as a young adult to have people who have helped guide me along the way. And now, that’s exactly what I want to pay forward.
I don’t want my grandkids to struggle with money.
And I don’t want your kids to struggle either.
That’s why I wrote Savvy Money Hack$ for Teens (with a bit of help from my grandkids) to introduce young people to the basics of money, mindful thinking, and the quiet power of saving.
We all start somewhere…
This is where your teen can begin. 💡

“As a young adult, I remember checking my bank account one day and thinking…‘How do I have money, yet at the same time... no money to spend?’ 🤦♀️
No one ever explained the difference between available balance and what was actually mine to use.
I wasn’t irresponsible… I was just never taught.
If I was confused as a young adult, how are teens supposed to figure this all out?
That’s why I’m so passionate about teaching financial freedom early.
Because one small understanding can change everything.

Teens don’t tune out money because they’re lazy…
They tune out because most people explain it like a math class.
But when they finally get it — everything changes.
That “Ohhh… THAT’s how money works” moment is when confidence starts. 💡

No TV.
No phones.

“What surprised you?”
“How would you use this in real life?”

🎮 Want a fun way to teach money—without lectures?
Try a family game night where choices actually cost something.
Games like this naturally teach teens:
💡 How income and expenses work
💡 Why planning ahead matters
💡 That every decision has a trade-off
The best part?
They’re learning money skills while laughing, competing, and spending time together.
✨ Pro parent move:
Pause the game occasionally and ask,
“What would you do differently if this were real life?”
Those little conversations stick far longer than any worksheet ever could.
New year. New strategy.
Let money lessons feel like play—not pressure.
