Stow Cleanup The Stow Cleanup is held annually in the spring to pick up trash and garbage around the town of Stow, Massachusetts.

The Stow Cleanup Group was created in 2009 to clean up the litter around the Town of Stow, Massachusetts. The original steering committee included founder, Sandy Taft, Tara Taft, Marie Guiles, Chris Spear, Janet Moffat, David Cobb, and Jean Lynch. In 2010, the Group was joined by Jean Caviness. Originally an Earth Day event, the cleanup date was moved to early April to avoid school vacation weekends and, hopefully, poison ivy. The Group meets two or three times in February and March to plan for the spring event. Special thanks to Ace Hardware, Boy Scouts, the Stow Highway Department, and the Stow Police Department for providing supplies and equipment each year and for the over 160 volunteers who help us clean up our town.

It is Fall in New England, even after the storm last weekend, it did not stop our beautiful fall colors that are happening now. The trails are all open, come out onto SCT properties and see the fall colors right in Stow. SCT Land Stewards for each parcel walked their trails and cleared them.

This may be the best time to come and see the colors!

Dark-eyed Juncos can be found year-round in some parts of Massachusetts, but their population increases in the fall as many return from the north to overwinter here.

Look for their distinctive dark hood, white breast, and pink beak, and listen for their sweet, bell-like trills.
