It’s interesting to me how suddenly everyone on the internet seems to care about the autism community. Overnight, people have become “experts” on what does or doesn’t cause autism.

But here’s the truth: if you’re only showing up to argue online, you’re missing the point.

If you really care about autistic children and their families, then support us in real, tangible ways. Donate to your local autism chapter. Help fund safe play spaces, parent support groups, and events where our kids can feel included.

Because while debates rage on the internet, families like mine are living this every single day. And what we need most isn’t more noise—it’s resources, community, and compassion.

So if you want to use your voice for good, let it be more than words. Back it up with action. Our kids deserve that. 💙

Now is the time to act!! Significant amounts of federal funds are being withheld pending review. Our state HAS our ALREADY PAID tax dollars in an account and refusing to release them to the school districts as 3 DIFFERENT Supreme Court rulings have ordered them to do! Our schools are struggling, our kids are being left behind, programs are being cut! Currently in Iredell County we have schools with classrooms that have no staff, and now there are funding freezes occurring pending the outcome of the department of education review of funding. We have ONE MONTH before school starts back, and we have families that don’t even know if their child will have a classroom to go back to, this is NOT ok! North Carolina has the money, OUR TAX MONEY, tucked away and they’re basically saying that children having access to a sound basic education is not their priority!

Right now, North Carolina laws make it difficult and expensive for families—especially low-income families—to seek justice when schools fail to meet their obligations. These laws also discourage attorneys from taking special education cases, because the deck is stacked so heavily against parents.
