Brookside School PTSA

Last Tuesday, our kindergartners took the stage and filled the room with joy as they performed a variety of songs — including the Brookside School song — for their families and teachers.

It was a special celebration of all they’ve learned and accomplished this year. We are so proud of our students and can’t wait to watch them continue to grow as they begin their journey into 1st grade!

Yesterday, our second graders finally took their highly anticipated field trip to Indian Grinding Rock—and it did not disappoint!

Students learned about the Native Miwok people of the area, explored u’mach’a (teepee-like structures), and even stepped inside the sacred roundhouse where ceremonies have been held for generations and continue today. They discovered how the Miwok used local plants for food and daily life, and saw the historic grinding rocks where women and girls prepared acorns—an important staple of their diet.

Our students also visited the museum, where they viewed traditional tools, instruments, and beautifully woven baskets made from grasses and reeds native to the region.

Experiences like this bring history to life in a meaningful way. We are so grateful to our amazing PTSA and generous family donors for making these enriching opportunities possible for our students!

Our fourth graders wrapped up the school year with a fun and memorable final field trip! 🎳 They headed to Pacific Bowl, where they enjoyed a day full of laughter, friendly competition, and time with their classmates.

On Friday, our first grade Team Purple—winners of our first annual Coin Wars—celebrated with a well-earned pizza party! They enjoyed a fun afternoon with delicious pizza from our local in Brookside.

Our runners-up, the 4th grade Pink Team, were also treated to popsicles to celebrate their great effort—way to go!

Thank you to everyone who participated in this “fun”draiser. Events like these help support field trips and educational programs for our classrooms.

Fun fact: Did you know Brookside PTSA funded 38 field trips for our students this year? That’s more than any other school in our district! 🎉

The much-anticipated 1st Grade field trip to In-N-Out Burger happened this week, and it did not disappoint! 🍔✨

Students walked to the restaurant where they toured the facilities and learned all about how their food is made. From seeing how potatoes are peeled and turned into fresh fries, to learning where the meat comes from, how long the buns stay fresh, and how all the veggies are prepared—this was hands-on learning at its best! The highlight? Getting to cut their own fries and, of course, enjoying a delicious In-N-Out meal at the end of the trip.

This is a long-standing Brookside tradition that our 1st graders look forward to every year, and it’s easy to see why!

We wrapped up our very first Coin War Challenge at the school—and it was a huge success! 🎉

A special thank you to our incredible PTSA volunteers for all of their hard work in making this event possible, and to our wonderful teachers for promoting team spirit by encouraging students to wear their class colors—you helped make this fundraiser so fun and successful!

Today we celebrated Professional Administrative Day by honoring Ms. Karen and Ms. Isabel with some treats and a big thank you from the PTSA 💐

These amazing ladies support the PTSA every single day and are truly our go-to gals. They are kind, supportive, and loved by all the students!

We are so grateful for all of their hard work and dedication — thank you for everything you do! 💙
