Happy Mother’s Day to the fierce advocates, the cycle-breakers, and the mothers who lead with a strength-based heart.

Today, we celebrate the moms who spend their hours researching, listening, and championing the unique needs of their children. Advocacy isn’t just a series of meetings or paperwork; it is a profound act of love that ensures every child is seen, understood, and supported exactly as they are.

To the mothers who prioritize agency and celebrate neurodivergent joy—your dedication is transforming the landscape for the next generation. We see the work you do behind the scenes and the unwavering belief you have in your children’s brilliance.

Take a moment today to honor your own resilience. You are doing incredible work.

Happy Mother’s Day!

📝 Know Your Rights: Navigating the IEP Process with Confidence! 🛡️

The IEP table can feel intimidating, but remember: You aren’t just a guest at the meeting—you are a mandatory member of the team. 🤝

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) gives you specific "Procedural Safeguards" to ensure your child gets the support they deserve. If you’ve ever felt like you didn't have a say, this post is for you.

Swipe through to learn your 6 fundamental rights:
1️⃣ Participation: You are an equal partner in every decision.
2️⃣ Prior Written Notice: No surprises! The school must tell you why they are making changes.
3️⃣ Informed Consent: You hold the "green light" for evaluations and services.
4️⃣ Access to Records: You have the right to see what the school sees.
5️⃣ Independent Evaluations (IEE): Disagree with the school's testing? You can ask for a second opinion.
6️⃣ Stay Put: Protection for your child’s placement during a dispute.
✨ Staying Empowered: Your voice is the most powerful tool in the room!

Pro-Tip: Save this post so you can reference it during your next pre-IEP prep session! 💾

Stop the After-School Meltdown with the “Safe Landing” Approach 🛑✋

The transition from school to home is HARD on the nervous system. Instead of jumping straight into homework or “How was your day?”, try this 4-step neuro-affirming routine:
1️⃣ The Air Lock: Low talking, comfy clothes immediately.
2️⃣ Refuel: Crunchy or cold snacks to reset the system.
3️⃣ Sensory Check: Do they need quiet (cocooning) or movement (crashing)?
4️⃣ Special Interests: Let them engage in their favorite hobby to recover.

Remember the Golden Rule: Regulation BEFORE Productivity. 🧠⚖️

Your peace is more important than the passing of the potatoes.” 🥔🧡

Thanksgiving can be a sensory minefield, but it can also be a beautiful opportunity to redefine what “together” looks like.

Today, let’s measure success not by how long the kids sat at the table or how many varied foods they ate, but by how safe and seen they felt.

Here’s to a holiday of:
✨ Comfortable clothes
✨ Safe foods without apology
✨ Stimming as joy
