HVAC Update for RE-1 Families
Dear RE-1 Families,
We want to provide an update regarding temperatures in some of our school buildings. Our district has an aging HVAC system, and there are areas where temperatures are not currently at the level we believe is acceptable.
Addressing these issues is the highest priority for our district maintenance team. Our team has been actively working to mitigate areas of concern, make necessary repairs, and improve conditions as quickly as possible. We are also working with local HVAC professionals and are preparing to bring in a large-scale HVAC company to begin developing and implementing longer-term solutions as soon as possible.
One particular area of concern is Campbell Elementary, including the 5th grade wing and music room. Parts needed for repairs in these areas have arrived, and work is moving forward today. As a short-term measure, the district also brought in additional coolers this week for the 5th grade hallway. While these have helped improve temperatures somewhat, it is still too warm. There are also other areas across the district where temperatures are a concern, and our maintenance team is actively addressing those areas as well.
In the meantime, our teachers and principals are doing everything they can to support students and staff, including moving classes and students to cooler areas of the buildings when possible throughout the day.
We recognize that classroom temperature directly impacts the ability of students to learn and teachers to teach effectively. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families and staff as we work through these challenges and toward both immediate relief and long-term solutions for our schools.
