Mr. Mitch Sexton drives dual credit and associate degree pathways at McCreary Central High School. Look at the number of dual credit, independent, and associate degree pathway courses the students at McCreary Central take advantage of. These numbers are expected to grow as our freshmen join the ranks in the spring semester. We are proud of our partnerships with Somerset Community College, Campbellsville University, Eastern Kentucky University, and the University of the Cumberlands.

Today was our annual Principal’s Scholar Luncheon to celebrate our students recognized at the high school level as Governor’s Scholars, Roger’s Scholars, Eli Entrepreneurs, and Governor’s School for the Arts. What a blessing it was to listen to their stories of their time spent at various universities throughout the state and the great networking they were able to do to build relationships with students across Kentucky. A special thank you to Mrs. Birney who is orchestrating our scholar applications for students this year. We are proud of our scholars and excited to see what the next 10 years will bring them.

Congratulations to Dawn Kidd for being the August Teacher of the Month. The teachers in her department say she is arguably one of the most supportive teachers in the building. She advocates for her English crew and students and goes above and beyond at all times. She is an amazing teacher who balances empathy and high expectations for both staff and students and is a great model for us all.
