More accolades for the yearbook!

The 2025 edition of the Riverheads Yearbook, themed Seeing Red, was awarded First Place in the Faire National Yearbook Review. This nationwide contest accepts submissions from all 50 states and scores yearbooks across four categories, totaling 1,000 possible points. Riverheads earned an impressive 950 overall, including a perfect score of 200 in the Content & Coverage category, which evaluates how well the publication features classes, clubs, special events, sports, student life, and overall student representation. Congratulations to the RHS yearbook staff along with Ms. Wenger - RHS yearbook sponsor - on this National recognition! Go Gladiators - RED PRIDE!

NOTICE FROM THE AUGUSTA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:

Riverheads Middle School Threat
On September 19, 2025, at 0718, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office received a report concerning a student at Riverheads Middle School who made threats to “shoot up the school.” The initial investigation has revealed that this is a fictitious threat made up by another student.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with school administration and the Superintendent’s Office, is actively investigating this matter. The suspect has been identified and is not at school, and deputies are in the process of gathering additional information.
Out of an abundance of caution, additional deputies have been assigned to the Riverheads School Complex to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community.
At this time, the investigation is ongoing. Additional details will be released as they become available. There is no threat to the students, staff and the community. School scheduling and school activities will remain normal today.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and School Administration remain committed to the safety and security of all students and staff within our schools.
The ACSO and Augusta County Public Schools remind parents to please monitor, educate, and counsel their children about social media. Students and young adults may think these types of threats are funny, jokes, or used to seek attention. However, the ACSO and School Administrators need parents to understand and explain that these threats have serious consequences. VA Code section, 18.2-60- Threats of death or bodily injury to a person or to a member of is family; threats of death or bodily injury to persons on school property; threats of death or bodily injury to heath care providers is a felony.

In-School Vaccine Clinics:

The Central Shenandoah Health District will be holding in-school vaccine clinics for rising 7th and 12th graders within Augusta County Public School District this spring. The types of vaccines available at these clinics are:

HPV, Meningococcal ACWY, and Tdap.

The Code of Virginia requires children entering daycare, public, and private schools to give proof of vaccination or an exemption form before enrolling in school. Parents are not required to be present but are welcome. High School students will be escorted to the Middle school clinic.

Clinic Dates are as follows:

Riverheads and Stuarts Draft Middle; April 11
Buffalo Gap Middle - April 29
Stewart and Wilson Middle- May 2

We are thrilled to announce that the 2024 publication of the Colosseum, "Riverheads Rewind" has won 1st Place in the prestigious American Scholastic Press Association Yearbook Competition. This national contest showcases the best yearbooks from schools across the United States. This marks a monumental moment in Riverheads history as the first time we’ve ever earned this incredible honor. Competing against outstanding yearbooks from schools nationwide, our team’s hard work, creativity, and dedication to storytelling and photography have been recognized at the highest level. This achievement is a testament to the talent and passion of our students and adviser who brought our yearbook to life. Following on the heels of our 2023 yearbook state championship, this award shows the dedication of our staff and the milestones our program is rapidly achieving. The Coliseum yearbook is not only one of the best yearbooks in the state, but now, it is also among the top yearbooks in the nation. Congratulations to Ms. Kynndal Wenger, RHS yearbook advisor, and RHS yearbook students for this outstanding recognition and achievement - Go Gladiators - RED PRIDE!
