Our third and final FitMind workshop is happening this Saturday, May 10, and you won’t want to miss it!
We’re closing out the academic year with a powerful experience focused on fitness, emotional release, and wellness planning:
🧠 Mindfulness – We’re partnering with The Outrage Room to guide you through a rage room experience that helps release stress and tension in a safe, supportive way.
💪 Fitness – Jump into a fun, energizing group workout designed to lift your mood and remind you of your strength.
🌱 Nutrition & Wellness – Our friends from Juve Integrative Medicine & Wellness will help you design a personalized wellness plan with strategies to boost energy, resilience, and long-term health.

Hey STATESBORO, to be “PREPARED FOR ANYTHING,” we have to know what our needs are and where they come from. The men and women who teach our children are important elements that affect the growth of our community.
Success for Teachers = Success for our children.
FitMind is a program created through Georgia Southern University to help empower teachers to manage stress with mindfulness and fitness tools.
Let’s help them create a balanced, resilient, and positive learning environment for our future!

What a journey! This was the final week of the What a year: Using fitness and mindfulness to decrease teachers' stress program.
Throughout the nine weeks, the teachers used cardiovascular, strength, and gymnastic routines to learn about and ways to apply fitness. The participants highlighted getting stronger and becoming more enduring by the end of the program. This was proven by their Rockport Mile tests results, and more importantly, their feelings and comments on the final day.
After 18 sessions of mindfulness (two per week), the teachers discussed learning new techniques and activities for reducing stress. In addition, they discussed learning how to share the information with others.
The 9-week, fall program, which was a pilot of the program, went fast! The Georgia Southern students learned new skills and techniques and then shared these with others; ways to use fitness and mental health to give back to the community; and when and how to apply management skills. The Georgia Southern University Sport Management Program students walk away with a new experience through a service-learning course. The participants were given their packets, local gym and fitness options and prices, and a lasting experience to identify, address, and manage stress.

We are down to the final two weeks, and we hope the participants are able to see a difference in their stress levels. In the fitness part, the participants focused on strength activities on Monday with bench pressing, squatting, step-ups and push-ups. On Wednesday, the group partnered up and rowed as many calories as possible while their partner did a round of jumping jacks, air squats, sit-ups, and dumbbell presses. In the classroom, the mindfulness group focused on Letting Go and Detachment. This presentation involved discussions and activities about letting go of stress!
Along with the program, students who are working behind the scenes created and are managing a website about the Mind, Body, and Fitness program. On the website, the students posted information about the program, participant testimonies, and pictures.
