Penn State Athletes Take Action is a program in which Penn State student-athletes visit local middle schools to lead discussions with students about the dangers of bullying. We talk to the kids about how to prevent, report, and take action against all of those things. We partner with the Centre County Women's Resource Center to create lesson plans for all the materials use and activities we do with the kids. PSATA saw great success last year and was covered by numerous news sources including ESPN. We go into their homeroom classes at 8am once a month (it's early, I know, but I promise it's worth it!). You can only volunteer to be part of this program as long as you do not have classes scheduled before 9:45 MWF or TTH (in other words you do not have 8am or 9:05am classes on your schedules - you are not allowed to miss class in order to participate in PSATA). If you are a Penn State Athlete interested in being a part of this program please email Jessie Maynor at [email protected].
