this is the first ranking of the semester
I went into a lot of detail with this one but it should be a good snap shot of current tier leaders and underdogs.
LET GET IT CRACKIN

This is the real, unbiased tier ranking. Let me start by saying I'm in frat that is on the higher end of the middle tier class. I won't disclose it just so that u don't think I'm showing favoritism. I'm in a frat so I know what's going as well as I've heard from many people from all different groups who would agree with this order. I'm not too low to not get what's going on in tier one but I'm not too to look at all frats below me as tier s**t, which is bull s**t BTW. My job here is to report the facts, not to get bogged down by the over aspirations of the bottom or the elitist snobbery of the top. this is based on many factors. social popularity and prestige, party quality, quality of members and overall approval by ENTIRE penn state community

Top Tier -These frats have held the top two tier spots for years. People believe the frattiest, the best looking, the on average richest, and the most douchbaggiest frat boys wear these letters. You can expect these frats to remain in this tier as much as you can expect parton and ciroc at their socials.

Tier 1: Dsig, Pikapp, KDR
Tier 2: Sig Chi, Beta Sig, Pike, SAE, Sammy, DChi
_______

Middle Tier - These are the bulk of frat land members. A mix of all the good and bad of frattiness. There is a good chance most people know at least one person from this tier and don't think badly of him

Tier 3 (upper middle): Lambda Chi, DTD, Acacia, ATO, Sig Ep
-Upper middle (tier 3) frats often social with top tier frats and people often argue that these are top tier. However most would agree with their placement here on this ranking.

Tier 4: TKE, TDX, Sig Pi, Alpha Sig, Zeta Psi, Pi Lam
Tier 5: Phi Tau, DU, AXP, Far Sig, AGR, Sig Nu

Tier 6 (lower middle): Phi Who, Sig Tau, Skulls, Theta Chi, AEPi
-Lower middle frats and tier 7 and tier 8 frats often change position. Most notably AEPi rising to tier 6 from 8 and DKE falling to tier 7 from 6

_______

Bottom Tier -Generally undesirable in fratland, some of these frats social with top tier sororities, throw decent ragers, and are pretty respectable there is only so much room in the middle tier and these frats just didn't make the cut. Don't Rule these guys out just because they are here, phi psi and AKL are hot contenders to moving up to middle tier status. some of these houses really no how to rage

Tier 7: Phi Psi, Kappa Sigma, DKE
Tier 8: Beta, AKL, Fiji
Tier 9: triangle, all business fraternities
Business fraternities are only ranked tier 9 on the social aspect. Unlike ethnic fraternities, business fraternities unfortunately share the same demographic as social frats they are also ranked under the same scrutiny to their disadvantage. With that being said, business frats are far from dishonorable. Anyone who tells you other wise is an as***le who should get more and learn to get off the frat crutch. They offer a lateral benefit in the success of such members and prove, on average, more lucrative in the real world. By preparing members though workshops and corporate mixers, these frats help build networking abilities and other vital skills that some top tier frats would have trouble fighting against.
__________

Unrankable frats
Ethnic frats (ALPHAs OMEGAs KAPPAs etc.)
They are unrankable because the audiences are different for these than the traditional social fraternity. If they were ranked by sheer number of Penn state students they would be lower middle tier 6 at most due to an overwhelming majority favoring the traditional fraternities. However if they were ranked with value draw within their specific demographic they easily score top tier ratings. They are on their own ranking independent of this one. They are neither ranked high or low on this leaderboard but are a good option if ur into that. They have great involvement initiatives and throw good parties in random locations like the hub or off campus housing
