South Hills School of Business & Technology is a career school with locations in State College and Altoona. Pennsylvania, that is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Founders Paul (1930-2013) and Maralyn Mazza created South Hills School of Business & Technology in 1970 when they saw the need for more specialized skills training in central Pennsylvania. Since then, more than 6,000 graduates have earned their degrees and gone on to lead successful careers. Paul and Maralyn believed in “Teaching People, Changing Lives,” a timeless ideal that continues to inspire faculty, staff, and students.

Our first-year Respiratory Therapy students put anatomy into action by constructing model thoracic cages, complete with a popsicle stick vertebral column, clay costal cartilage and floating ribs. As they build their foundational knowledge of anatomy and physiology, students are learning how the structures of the skeletal system work together to make breathing possible.

A little creativity + a lot of anatomy = hands-on learning in action!

Current Students!

Can our school complete 25+ acts of service this year? Let’s find out!

In honor of the 25th anniversary of September 11, FBLA is launching 25+ Acts of Service, a school-wide challenge to make a difference throughout the 2026–2027 school year.

Our goal starts at 25 acts of service—but why stop there?

And remember, service doesn’t have to be a huge project! Tutor a classmate during Common Hour. Make a meal for someone who is sick. Donate to a food drive. Help a neighbor. Volunteer in the community. Small acts count, too!

Completed an act of service? Email [email protected]! Tell us what you did, and we’ll add it to our 25+ Acts of Service bulletin board and our school-wide total. Let’s see how high we can get that number!

Help Us Kick It Off!

FBLA’s first act of service is honoring our local first responders, and you can join us:

Sign the thank-you card in the front office.
Help prepare goodie bags for local first responders. I will email the date/time the club will be doing this. We would love to have you join us.

Come hear from a local first responder – our own Mary Lou Philips-Ryder (Medical Assistant Instructor) on September 24 at noon in the Mazza Center. She’ll share why she chose to serve and what being a first responder means to our community.

As we serve, we also remember those who lost their lives on September 11 and honor the first responders, volunteers, and others who stepped forward to help.

25 is just the beginning. How far can we go?

Let’s serve. Let’s remember. Let’s make a difference—together!
