🌞 This week, our little scientists chased the sun!
Red River Schoolhouse dove into Week 3, all about the letter S — and what better late-summer theme for Kentucky than the Sun?
Our kindergartners became “Sun Scientists,” hunting for shadows along the trails, comparing the warmth of sunlight and shade, and asking big questions like, “What makes a shadow?” and “Can you make your shadow bigger?” They watched their shadows stretch and shrink as they jumped, spun, and stretched across the playground — physics disguised as pure joy. ☀️
We practiced our S sounds with sun, snake, sock, and star, painted bright suns with alternating rays, and kept watch over a science experiment unfolding right before our eyes: a plate of grapes slowly turning into raisins in a sunny window! 🍇
We even built our own sundials, using nothing more than play doh, cardboard, and a pencil to track the sun’s movement throughout the day.
And as we learned about how the sun gives us light and heat and helps plants grow, we were reminded of an even greater Light. Through John 8:12, we reflected on Jesus’ words: “I am the light of the world.”
A week of science, Scripture, sunshine, and so much wonder. 🌞📖
