LEAP-AHEAD LEARNING CENTER

LEAP-AHEAD LEARNING CENTER LEAP into Learning at the LEAP-AHEAD LEARNING CENTER ~ Leaving a legacy of love and learning that will last a life time!! I also do scholastic book orders.

WELCOME TO THE
LEAP-AHEAD LEARNING CENTER
292 ANN CIRCLE STANSBURY PARK
435-849-0248 ~ [email protected]

My name is Tara Robinson and I have been teaching preschool in Stansbury Park for the past ten years. I have been married to my husband Greg (Mr. Rob) who is a sixth grade teacher at Rose Springs elementary for twenty years, we have three wonderful children, Kayla, Kylee and Jake and w

e have one amazing little Grandson Cooper. I have been so blessed to have had the opportunity to teach so many wonderful little children (including my own) over the years and it is so exciting for me to see them grow up and have success as they move on. It is my philosophy that learning should be a fun experience. This is your child’s first experience with school and it should be a positive experience so that they will love school and learning for the rest of their lives. I also feel that preschool should be “school” not a “play-group” that is why I have built a curriculum geared towards educating your child and preparing them for elementary school. My goal is to help your child get ready for Kindergarten, have many exciting adventures, and most importantly help their self-esteem to grow. CURRICULUM:

Over the years I have developed a curriculum that I feel is very effective and is very successful in preparing my students for Kindergarten. My curriculum is based around a program called ZOO-PHONICS. There are many types of learners, some children are hands on learners, some are visual learners and some kids learn through music and sound, zoo-phonics is designed to work with all three of these types of learners as it teaches children the alphabet letter’s through sight, signal, and sound. Each week we will have a letter of the week and everything we do in class is designed to help us learn to recognize that letter and learn the sound it makes. At the beginning of the week we introduce the letter we are learning with a special mail delivery. MAILMAN

Each Monday is MAIL-DAY for the PRE-K classes & Tuesday for the three- year-old classes. I will write on the calendars who will be the mailman each week. The mailman is responsible for bringing a treat to share with their classmates that begins with the letter of the week. For example if we were learning letter Aa, the mailman could bring Animal crackers. You will need to put the mail treat in a box or envelope and wrap it up, put an address on it so that it looks like a package. For example I would write To: The children at LEAP-AHEAD in Stansbury/ From: Allie Alligator Aa, ABC Lane Alphabet City, USA this is a fun way to introduce the letter of the week to the class. SHOW AND TELL

On Fridays we will have SHOW AND TELL. I would like your child to bring a SHOW AND TELL that begins with the letter we are learning in class that week. If you would like to bring in any special pets, or family member’s please let me know in advance and I will let you know what time would be best for that special visit. DURING CLASS EACH DAY

We will be talking about a wide variety of different subjects, ranging from: Holiday theme’s, Dinosaurs, physical fitness, people in our community, fire safety, nature, weather, manners, kindness, differences, sharing, cooperation, and much much more. We will go over shapes, colors and counting each day during our circle-time exercises, we will also put a number on the calendar, learn the months of the year and the days of the week, along with the season and the weather. Each day during TABLE-TIME your child will work on their handwriting skills by doing worksheets that are geared toward having them prepared for Kindergarten & will help your child to learn to write all the alphabet letters. In the spring we will do a math focus and spend a few weeks working on writing numbers and learning to count. During the week we will make a couple of fun craft projects related to the letter or the theme we are doing in class. During SINGING-TIME, we will be getting our wiggles out by singing some wonderful songs. We will learn all kinds of songs throughout the year and we will give you plenty of opportunities like the Halloween program, Christmas, and Graduation to hear us sing. We will end the day with STORY-TIME, I love children’s literature and I have a great library of books. The stories we read during class will relate to whatever theme or letter we are learning for the week. I feel reading should be a great adventure for children; through reading they will be able to expand their imaginations and develop great pre-reading skills they will also develop a love for great books and for reading. FIELD TRIPS

Every month we will be taking a fun field trip in relation to what we are learning in class, for example we will be taking field trips to the following places: The Living Planet Aquarium, The Benson Gristmill, Macey’s Grocery store, The Stansbury Fire Station, Discovery Gateway, Rose Springs elementary for lunch and a tour, and we will take our final filed trip to Hogle Zoo in May when we have learned all the alphabet. You are responsible for getting your child to the field trips. Field trips are very enriching and so much fun; I encourage you to join us but you are not required to do so. BIRTHDAYS:

Each student will be scheduled a day as close to their birthday as possible to bring a treat for the class. You will also need to make a poster, with some fun photos of your child. Your child will be the special helper for the day, and you will be invited the last twenty minutes of class to celebrate with us. If your child has a birthday during the summer months, we will celebrate their half-birthday. Birthdays will be written on the calendars each month. CALENDARS & BOOK ORDERS:

At the beginning of each month I will be sending home a calendar & newsletter along with a Scholastic book order. The calendar will inform you of the activities that we will be doing in class each day, birthday celebrations, mailmen, field trips, and any other information or instructions you will need regarding what we are doing all month. I will send home book order forms at the beginning of the month. Scholastic is a great way for you to build your library at home; this is a great way to purchase quality books at an inexpensive cost. Please make all scholastic book order checks payable to scholastic book clubs & please do not send cash. ILLNESS:

If your child is sick and unable to attend class, I will send home nay missed worksheets and projects. Absences however are not subtracted from the monthly fee. If your child is sick please be courteous and keep them home so everyone doesn’t get sick. GRADUATION:

We will have an excellent graduation program at the end of May, to celebrate your child and their achievements at preschool. We will also have class photos towards the end of the year taken by professional photographer. I require each child to purchase a preschool t-shirt to wear for class photos, to the zoo, & to the graduation program. The cost is $10.00 and I order them in mid-March. Thank You so much for interest in my preschool, I love teaching children, they bring such excitement and enthusiasm to my life and I look forward to the opportunity to teach your child. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to give me a call. PRESCHOOL TIME:

• A.M. PRE-K class is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30-12:00.

Hello LEAP-AHEAD friends 🐸
Recently I had the opportunity to spend some time with Miss Julia at The Brainery preschool at Ken’s Gym in Tooele. I trained Miss Julia in Zoo-Phonics and worked with her on her curriculum. I gave her all the tools and materials that she needs to give you an incredible learning experience that you’ve supported from LEAP-AHEAD for many years. If you’re looking for a quality preschool to give your sweet kiddos a great start to their early education, go check out The Brainery at Ken’s Gym. Below is a QR code for more information. Hope you’re all doing well, give all your LEAP-AHEAD kids a hug from Miss Tara and Grandma Pat 💛🐸💛

Hey LEAP-AHEAD kids Grandma Pat is turning 80 and we’re throwing her a big open house on Saturday, July 27th from 3-5 at the Stockton LDS church. The details are below. I know she’d love to see the LEAP-AHEAD kids 💚🐸💚

Leap-ahead older kids or families, Grandma Pat is searching for an occasional dog sitter for her mini Bernadoodle Ringo. He’s 10 months old and is the sweetest dog, but he has big energy. She needs someone to look after him at her home in Stockton. It would likely be 3-4 hours twice a month so she could go on an outing. She’ll pay!! Message me if you’re interested.

A Friendly Reminder
Imagining what it would be like to be in the position of others is a skill to practise. It's the foundation of the great injunction, "Do unto others as you would have done unto you".
