The Stanford German Student Association is happy to host a Fireside Chat with Mark Schmitz on December 03rd 2021 at 5:30pm at Hacienda Commons @ Rains (https://goo.gl/maps/UhsvfnPActJL21mg6).
Mark (https://www.linkedin.com/in/schmitzmark/) is the former Managing Director of Lakestar Ventures, one of Germany's most successful venture capital firms. He is currently the CEO of equation (https://equationcap.com/) where he is developing financial products for equity markets and is managing a fund-of-funds that is pooling investment monies for investments into Europe's Tech VC ecosystem. Mark will share his insights about recent developments in equity financing in the EU and the future of EU and US VC.

(S)GSA Brunch & Learn – Moritz Baier-Lentz and Philipp Reineke
June 30, 10-11.30 am PT / 7 pm CET

We cordially invite you to our second edition of "Students meet Alumni". This new format, organized together with the German Stanford Association (GSA), aims to foster a dialogue between Stanford students and alumni.
For our June event, we are happy to welcome Moritz and Philipp, who will lead a conversation on the video gaming industry, virtual worlds, and venture capital for gaming, esports, and interactive media projects. We look forward to having you!

Moritz is a partner at Bitkraft Ventures and the former Co-Head of the global gaming and esports practice at Goldman Sachs.

Philipp is a PhD candidate in Management Science and Engineering and is researching partnership formation in the gaming industry.

The first 30 minutes will be Moritz and Philipp in conversation (podcast-style!), then the floor will be open for 60 minutes of Q+A.

Invited Talk by Niklas Knust, Ambassador on Business Ecosystems at the BCG Henderson Institute, Consultant in the BCG office in Cologne, Germany

The SGSA is excited to announce the first invited talk of the year!

What is a business ecosystem and why are ecosystems hyped in the business world? What are the basic economics of business ecosystems (e.g., winner-takes-all dynamics and network effects)? Where do we take it from here?

Niklas Knust is going to introduce us to the world of business ecosystems and why they are a key trend everyone should understand.

The BCG Henderson Institute studies business ecosystems with a focus on design, governance and strategies. In this session, we aim to give you a brief introduction into the world of business ecosystems touching upon questions of the economics of platforms, basic design principles and the state of the platform revolution in 2021.

At the end of the 30 min talk, there will be an open discussion and all questions on content and career opportunities are welcome.
