Thank you, Dr. Talley, for taking the time to visit our September Family & Community Engagement Liaison meeting! 💙

We truly appreciate your support and recognition of the important work our FCE Liaisons do every day to connect, welcome, and support our students and families. It was wonderful having you with us at the SPS Welcome Center!

Together, we continue building stronger connections between our schools, families, and community. 💙🏫

Dr. Talley stopped by the September meeting of our Family & Community Engagement Liaisons at the SPS Welcome Center on September 9. Each of our schools has a Family & Community Engagement Liaison who supports families, students, and staff by answering parent questions, providing support to multilingual families, hosting parent information meetings, and helping parents stay connected with what's happening in their child's school. Thank you to our Family & Community Engagement Liaisons for all they do every day to support families!

“Receiving the RULER Spotlight designation is a meaningful reflection of who we are as a community,” said Stillmeadow Principal Kathleen Kelley. “This designation recognizes the intentional work that our staff, students and families do each day to create a school where emotional intelligence, belonging, and relationships are valued alongside academic excellence.”

To continue SPS Chain of Command series, here's a short guide to finding more answers to more questions. Please remember - ParentSquare is your go-to app for all things "school", including getting in touch with teachers and administrators in the fastest and most efficient way.

Effective leadership requires a system in which responsibilities are clear and concerns are addressed at the level closest to the issue whenever possible. People responsible for leading our schools must be afforded the opportunity to resolve issues in their buildings. Therefore, when questions and concerns arise, please follow the chain of command to allow school employees the opportunity to respond. This is often the fastest and most efficient way to address parent questions and concerns.

Last night, Superintendent Talley joined Mayor Simmons, Board of Education President Mr. George, members of the Board of Representatives, Mrs. Freeman, and other community leaders for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new ROSCCO office in Stamford.

ROSCCO operates licensed programs across 15 Stamford Public Schools, offering childcare, enrichment, and family support services. Its programming directly aligns with the district's goals by reinforcing literacy, STEM, and social-emotional learning outside regular classroom hours.

The new office marks a key milestone in ROSCCO's ongoing efforts to expand community access and support Stamford students and families.

Every school day counts! Attendance is one of the single biggest predictors of academic success, and with only 181 school days a year, every hour in the classroom matters. We ask all of our families to help prioritize regular attendance by ensuring students arrive on time and ready to learn.

To support regular attendance and streamline communication, we are updating our absence notifications through ParentSquare:

Daily Absence Alerts: Starting Monday, Aug. 31 for Grades K-8 (sent once daily) and Tuesday, Sept. 8 for High School (sent after each of the 4 block periods), parents will receive an automated notification if their student is marked with an unexcused absence.

Proactive Absence Reporting: You can now log planned absences directly in the ParentSquare app! Whether it’s an illness, medical appointment, or college visit, submitting the details through ParentSquare ensures our attendance offices can code your child's record quickly and accurately.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students present, engaged, and learning every day!
