Facilitated by teachers Mrs. Latoya Davis and Ms. Kamille Mansell, all of our ESA kindergarten students transformed into toy engineers for the “Adapt A Toy” Fall STEM Challenge. After learning about disabilities and how certain movement disorders can cause some children to be unable to engage with toys, our students followed the Engineering Design Process to create a solution – adapted toys. In the spirit of community leadership, all of the adapted toys these students created were gifted to special education students at Stafford Early Childhood Center, Stafford Elementary School, and Stafford Middle School.
The Early STEM Academy extends much appreciation to Hannah Heimbaugh of AdaptAbilities who inspired this via her Region 4 Education Service Center STEM Conference session. We also express the utmost gratitude to the following for their generous contributions of service and donation in support of this project based learning experience:

🌟 Now Accepting Applications: Early STEM Academy (Kindergarten | 2026–2027) 🌟
Families, if you’re just learning about the Early STEM Academy at Stafford Early Childhood Center, we’re excited to share this opportunity with you!
The Early STEM Academy is an innovative, accelerated kindergarten program designed to spark curiosity, strengthen problem-solving skills, and immerse young learners in hands-on STEM experiences from the very start of their educational journey.
📌 Eligibility Reminder:
Students applying must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2025 to be considered for kindergarten enrollment.
🧪 How the Admissions Process Works
For families zoned to Stafford MSD:
➡️Complete the Early STEM Academy 2026–2027 application
➡️Submit the $20 application fee via RevTrak
➡️Review the ESA Admission Test Study Guide with your child
➡️Participate in the Early STEM Academy Admissions Test
➡️Receive a decision letter from ESA Admissions
➡️Complete the Stafford ECC enrollment process (Spring 2026, for students new to SECC)
For families who live outside Stafford MSD:
➡️Complete the Early STEM Academy 2026–2027 application
➡️Submit the $20 application fee via RevTrak
➡️Review the ESA Admission Test Study Guide with your child
➡️Participate in the Early STEM Academy Admissions Test
➡️Receive a decision letter from ESA Admissions
➡️Complete the Stafford ECC enrollment process (Spring 2026, for students new to SECC)
➡️Complete the Stafford MSD Non-Resident Transfer Application (Spring 2026)
Please note: acceptance into both the Early STEM Academy and the non-resident transfer process is required to secure enrollment.
