We are excited to announce that families now have a new, convenient way to support both their child's academic success and their own wellness. Through a new collaboration between Miriam School and Learning Center and the Gateway Region YMCA, YMCA members can now enroll their children in fee-based, specialized tutoring services offered by Miriam at the South County and Chesterfield YMCA locations.
Students in grades K–12 can receive one-on-one tutoring or participate in small-group reading instruction focused on reading, writing, math, and executive functioning. Instruction is tailored to each child's unique learning needs using evidence-based approaches. Q: My child is smart. Why is homework such a battle?
A: Intelligence and executive functioning are actually two entirely different things. A child can easily understand the material but still really struggle with organization, planning, staying focused, or getting started.
