So, here is an interesting something. I don’t know if I should be excited about this, or not. I have submitted three grand for various programs regarding domestic violence. One is for improving criminal justice responses. One is for transitional housing and caring for infants and children. And one !is for a research and evaluation project. The research and a valuation project was the last one I submitted. I got an email today saying that the research and evaluation grant did not make it to the peer review process. I have not heard anything on the first two that I submitted. So does this mean that the first two I submitted did make it through to the peer review process? That would be so exciting it would be almost scary

This sounds remarkably like what we want to do with victims of domestic violence. Excellent work!!!

CBS) — A series of innovations in Minnesota are working to end homelessness among military veterans. The state has used an individualized approach, first learning what factors contributed to the situation, be it mental health issues, substance abuse or simple economics. The state then tailors a support system to address those issues.

It’s a model that could help the general homeless population – veteran or not.

“I think the approach that we’ve taken is really to break it down into its essential elements,” Larry Herke, commissioner of Minnesota’s VA, told Dana Jacobson for “CBS This Morning Saturday.”

Nine years ago, when there were just over 1,700 homeless vets in Minnesota, Jerke’s department began to compile a registry of every veteran living on the street in the state. Working with partners like the federal VA and numerous non-profits they started finding homes for vets.

“They all had these resources but no one organization could solve the problem by themselves,” Herke said. “It took the combination of all of the organizations to be able to pull together and to be able to come up with the actual solution to this problem.”

Herke has found support at the state level including Minnesota’s new governor Tim Walz, a fellow veteran of the National Guard.

So, in the course of writing and submitting my “Improving Criminal Justice Responses to Domestic Violence”, I was inspired to create a system which would make the criminal justice system work much more efficiently regarding domestic violence cases. I was encouraged to patent the system. So I approached a patent attorney. He has determined that this is, indeed, a patentable system!!! So now the clock is ticking. I have 12 months to do some development on it before the patent application expires. At that time, it will cost me about 10,000 to get the system legitimately filed with the government patent office. So if you know anyone who likes to invest in startups, venture capitalists, or people who just have the means to donate towards a system that will change forever how the criminal justice system handles domestic violence, please forward my information and have them contact me. Thank you!!

Well folks... I need your prayers. I’ve written probably 100 pages for this grant, and found out today that making an account for SAM is not the same thing as registering for SAM. That means I cannot submit my grant. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. So I am appealing for more time so my registration will go through and I can apply. Please pray that I will still be able to apply, somehow...

The most recent statistics on domestic violence shelters I could find for Missouri showed that 23,000 individuals were turned away in a year because there wasn’t enough room. Not enough room.... so where did these desperate people go? What about all those who needed to go to a shelter but could not, or were afraid to, or were kept from going? Please help me pray that a facility is donated, and grants are awarded to get Help to Heal Now off the ground. There are literally tens of thousands who need it!
