Johnny Appleseed day is Saturday! His real name was John Chapman and he planted apple trees all across the Midwest. 🍎

Mrs. Foster’s Preschool 3s celebrated him by having a whole Apple themed day! They made apple hats & had an apple taste testing, sampling red, green, and yellow. Then they charted how they thought the apples tasted, smelt, and what it sounded like when they ate them - crunchy! They also talked about the parts of an apple and explored apples in science. Our little Wildcats even charted which apples were their favorite- red won!

Our 4th graders recently kicked off their American Revolution unit, and this week they brought their reading and social studies lessons together in a pretty fun way! 📜🦅🇺🇸

While learning about point of view in reading, our Wildcats used what they were learning about the American Revolution to compare and contrast George Washington and King George III. Using excerpts from their book along with their growing knowledge of history, students explored how the two historical figures were alike and different.

Then came the fun part: students took turns debating with a partner from the perspective of either George Washington or King George III!

This morning, our Salem community gathered before school for See You at the Pole, joining students across the country in prayer for our schools, our communities, our leaders, and one another. 🙏🏻🇺🇸

A special thank-you to our Student Council for leading us in prayer and helping create such a meaningful start to the school day!

What a beautiful reminder that we are Rooted in Christ and called to bring our faith with us wherever we go. 💛

Looking for ways to get involved at Salem? We’ve made it easier! 💛

We’re excited to introduce our new Salem Volunteer Resource for the 2026–27 school year! This one-stop resource gives our families a look at upcoming volunteer opportunities throughout the year so you can plan ahead and find the opportunities that work best for your family.

And the best part? You only need one link! New volunteer opportunities will continue to be added throughout the school year, so bookmark the resource and check back regularly. The link is also listed under "School Resources" on the Current Families page of our slcas.org website.

SALEM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES LINK: https://www.wejoinin.com/sheets/tyeup

And we’re making it even easier to keep this resource handy! Our volunteer opportunities graphic is being turned into a fridge magnet that will be sent home with every student!

Every volunteer hour makes a difference! Thank you for helping us connect and serve together as a Wildcat family. 🐾

Don’t forget to log your volunteer hours in FACTS under the Home tab!
