Q: CDR Lambert what would you tell your 18 year old self about applying for the NROTC scholarship?

A: There will be ups and downs, triumphs and tears. There will be times you think of quitting and giving up and you’ll question if it’s worth it. Be unapologetically yourself and know that even if you don’t know the next steps, you have joined something bigger than yourself. Trust yourself when people doubt you. Bet on yourself. The ideals of honor, courage, and commitment will become the guiding stars by which you navigate your life - trust them. Go out and embrace the adventure because the treasures you gain along the way will be worth it.

***Application is now open and I would be happy to answer any questions.***

Q: CDR Norris what would you tell your 18 year old self about applying for the NROTC scholarship?

A: Dear 18 year old Alyssa.... apply for all the schools and scholarships! You will want to have lots of options, but the best decision you'll ever make is to go Navy ROTC. You don't know yet what you want to be when you grow up (and to be honest, 40 year old Alyssa doesn't either)... but the Navy will be the best adventure to figure it out, see the world, make lots of new friends, and get paid for it.

A CAREER AS A NAVY EOD TECH
Americans live for fireworks on the 4th of July. The other 364 days of the year, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technicians and Officers are doing all they can to prevent them. Using advanced tools like cutting-edge robotic technology and explosives chemistry, this elite group performs missions that require immense bravery—from jumping out of airplanes to blowing up underwater mines. This job is no cake walk—you have to be smart, tough, quick-thinking and cool under pressure.

As an EOD Tech, you’ll receive extensive training to perform missions neutralizing explosive weapons in almost every environment. Your duties may require you to:

💥Detonate and demolish hazardous munitions, pyrotechnics and outdated explosives
💥Neutralize various ordnance, including sea mines, torpedoes or depth charges
💥Work with cutting-edge technology to remotely disable unsafe ordnance
💥Perform parachute or helicopter insertion operations
💥Support law enforcement agencies
💥Clear waterways of mines in support of our ships and submarines
💥Lend your skills and support to other military units or offices, such as the U.S. Secret Service or the U.S. Department of State

Want to become a EOD Officer in the US Navy? The NROTC scholarship can help you achieve this career goal! Apply not and start your journey.
