Created by Eboo Patel's Interfaith Youth Core, The Better Together Campaign is a movement across campuses nationwide that brings people of all faith and no faith backgrounds together to address a social injustice. This year, Saint Louis University will be looking at what we as an entire SLU community can do to tackle the lack of multicultural education in St. The Better Together Campaign will focus on the issue of youth global awareness this year. We are currently executing a global learning program in conjunction with Youth Learning Center. This is a once a month, afterschool program that teaches them about different countries and regions of the world through simulations, games, and activities. We hope that by doing this we will be exposing children to cultures and ideas they might have otherwise not known about. Furthermore, we hope this knowledge will equip them to work towards bettering their community, which in turn will lead to a greater outreach of strong, empowered individuals. Most importantly, by working one on one with these students, we plan to create global citizens; kids who respect and appreciate other’s cultures. We are also coordinating other service opportunities with groups around St. Louis working towards the same cause, including Belas Artes, St. Louis Language Immersion School, and Operation Cooperation.
