What happens when students take the lead in their own learning?

A college-and-career connection comes to MRH. Three groups of students - Kristin Tanner’s ESOL 9-12 class, Melissa Urspruch’s Internship on Campus class and Dr. Robert Welker’s Psychology class - recently came together to learn from Laura Mueller of St. Louis Community College about STLCC’s Behavioral Health Support Program.

And this opportunity started with an MRH student.

Bakht Meena Sulaimankhail took the initiative to make the connection, opening the door for students to explore behavioral health careers, college pathways, community-based experiences and potential internship opportunities.

That’s School as Apprenticeship in action: Students identifying what they want to learn, building relationships and creating their own next steps.

We love seeing our students turn curiosity into opportunity. 💙

What is HS/MS Theatre Teacher Holly Potthoff so excited about?

"The Thespians had a GREAT weekend! Four of my officers attended the Thespian Leadership Conference at The Lodge of the Four Seasons. They spent the weekend attending workshops, connecting with other thespians from across the state, and representing MRH Troupe 3189. And we have some exciting news… MRH was awarded an Honor Troupe! AND… Owen Dittrich was elected to the Missouri Thespian Student State Board!

I am so proud of all of our students and the work they continue to do both within our Troupe and throughout the state. It was a fantastic weekend for MRH Thespians!"

🎉 BIG BLUE DEVIL CONGRATULATIONS! 🎉
Please join us in celebrating Jane Bolen and Martin Colvin, who have been named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists!
This prestigious recognition places Jane and Martin among more than 16,000 students nationwide — fewer than 1% of U.S. high school seniors — recognized for their outstanding academic achievement.
We are incredibly proud of these two Blue Devils and the hard work, curiosity and dedication that brought them to this point.
Congratulations, Jane and Martin! 💙😈

What a treat to host author Aiden Thomas this week at the High School Research & Design Center. Mr. Thomas writes young adult novels. He is best known for the book Cemetery Boys which was a New York Times bestseller and won numerous awards, including best of the year recognition from the American Library Association, Publishers Weekly, Barnes & Noble, NPR and School Library Journal. While at MRH, he discussed his follow-up book Espiritu.

As always, thanks to our buddies at Left Bank Books for making Mr. Thomas's visit possible.
