What does it mean to be well educated?
Education is about more than grades, test scores, college admissions, or preparing young people for a profession. It is about the formation of a person and helping students become who they are meant to be.
❤️ As a new school year begins, Head of School David Colón reflects on the possibilities within every student, the role schools play in cultivating excellence, and the enduring wisdom of our Visitation motto: “Be who you are and be that well.”

Today, Aug. 12, we celebrate the Feast of St. Jane de Chantal, co-founder of the Order of the Visitation and a woman whose life and spirit continue to shape who we are as a Visitation community.
❤️ 🦉 🌙 ✨
St. Jane knew great joy as well as profound loss and uncertainty. Through it all, she learned to place her heart more completely in God’s care. Her strength was rooted in trust, compassion, patience, and gentleness.
What a beautiful companion she is as we begin our year with **Hearts United in Peace** and our August Little Virtue of **Gentleness**.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” John 14:27
St. Jane shows us what it can look like to live that peace through a kind word, a patient response, a willingness to listen, forgiveness freely offered, and gentleness toward those we encounter each day.
As we celebrate her today, may we ask St. Jane to help us keep our hearts rooted in Jesus and united with one another, carrying His peace into our classrooms, offices, homes, and community.
Happy Feast Day, Visitation! ❤️
St. Jane de Chantal, pray for us. ✨

❤️🤍 BIG NEWS AT VIZ! 🤍❤️
We are thrilled to announce NEW Merit-Based Scholarships for the 2027-2028 school year, creating even more opportunities for exceptional students to call Viz home and become a Vivette! ✨🦉🌙
Incoming Grade 9 students can qualify for renewable academic merit scholarships based solely on NWEA (MAP) assessment performance, giving every family a clear understanding of where they stand, with no separate application, interview, or essay required.
❤️ Annecy Scholar: $8,000 for students scoring in the 99th percentile
🤍 Kaskaskia Scholar: $6,000 for students scoring in the 97th–98th percentiles
❤️ Ballas Scholar: $4,000 for students scoring in the 95th–96th percentiles
Scholarships are awarded independent of financial need and are renewable annually. Students whose schools do not administer the NWEA assessment may take the test through Viz at no cost.
Merit Scholars will also participate in enrichment experiences designed to foster intellectual curiosity, leadership, and meaningful engagement within the Visitation community. Families may qualify for both merit scholarships and need-based financial aid, giving more students the opportunity to experience all that Viz has to offer.

Summer at Viz has been filled with learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories. ☀️
Whether campers were getting creative, solving new challenges, staying active, or discovering something new outdoors, every day brought a new adventure. It was so much fun welcoming both familiar and new faces to campus this summer, and we loved seeing friendships grow along the way.
Thanks for making Summer at Viz one to remember. We can't wait to do it all again next year! ❤️🦉

Nearly a year ago, an unexpected injury gave our Head of School a new perspective on what truly makes Visitation Academy extraordinary.
While budgets, enrollment, and planning keep a school running, it was the everyday acts of kindness that made the biggest difference. Montessori students checking in, Vivettes offering a helping hand, and faculty and staff quietly stepping in all reflected the Little Virtues that are at the heart of our community.
The newest School of Thought blog is a reminder that while buildings and budgets matter, it's the people and the virtues they practice each day that make Visitation, Visitation.
