While battle reenactments are dramatic and exciting, ask any reenactor and they will tell you research is the most important part of the hobby. We all strive for accuracy in soldiers wore, carried, ate, and felt, from the biggest aspect to the smallest detail. Research is how we improve our impressions, and we’re proud to announce the launch of a new research collection on our website!
The first collection can be found on our existing articles page, and contains recommended reading, video footage from the national archives, and links to external resources.

Update on NMMA lighting.

🇺🇸Progress continues at the National Memorial of Military Ascent! 🇺🇸

We are pleased to share that the memorial lighting has now been installed and successfully tested. The goal of the lighting design is not to illuminate the entire wall and statues as if it were daylight, but rather to thoughtfully enhance the memorial's dramatic beauty and significance through subtle, respectful lighting.

This carefully planned approach highlights the memorial's features while preserving the atmosphere and dignity of the space during evening hours.

In keeping with our commitment to environmental stewardship, the lighting will operate at only 10% power during migratory bird season (November through March) to help protect birds traveling through the Mississippi River corridor.

We look forward to welcoming visitors to experience the memorial in a whole new light.
