Last week, a group of Affton High School Juniors attended the graduation ceremony for their cohort of Youth Leadership St. Louis. Olivia C., Kennedy J., Sarah M., Oliver P., and Nathan M. completed a nine month long leadership training program that included sessions with local business, non-profit, and community leaders to learn about how to be young leaders for their St. Louis community.
The graduation included presentations by the students on action-research projects to help solve local problems in the St. Louis region, as well as speeches by community leaders. Graduates were also surprised by a special gift from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In support of the program, each graduate was awarded a scholarship worth $21,000 for their future education at UMSL!

We are thrilled to announce Edis "Edo" Grozdanic and Emily Grozdanic as the recipients of the 2026 Superintendent’s Award! 🏆 Presented by Dr. Travis Bracht at the 30th annual SOAR Awards, this honor recognizes their incredible "above and beyond" service to the Affton community.
As parents of three active students in our schools, Edo and Emily don't just participate—they lead.
Edo Grozdanic (2026 Citizen of the Year) has transformed youth athletics in Affton. In just one year, he founded Affton Youth Activities, launched a free basketball clinic, and secured partnerships with the MLS and NFL to bring soccer and flag football leagues to our students.
Emily Grozdanic (APC President) has spent five years strengthening the Affton Parents Club. From creating the first-ever Back to School Bash to fostering deep partnerships with local businesses through the Chamber of Commerce, Emily’s leadership ensures every family and staff member feels connected and supported.
"Edo and Emily don’t just support ‘the district’ as an idea; they support the human work that happens every day in our classrooms, our offices, and our hallways." — Dr. Travis Bracht
Please join us in thanking the Grozdanics for their heart, their vision, and their tireless dedication to making Affton a place where everyone belongs! 💜💛
