SLPS STUDENT ARTISTS ON DISPLAY!

Students from Sumner and Vashon high schools are showcasing their creativity and collaboration at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis!

The student exhibition features two programs, Come to the Table and Digital Drift, Analog Anchor, bringing together ceramics, printmaking, digital design and sculpture to explore themes of community, collaboration and imagining the future.

Opening night was also a celebration! Sumner sophomore 2D Saqqara Givens-Brown and her mother, Aja Givens-Brown, brought some extra energy to the evening as they danced their way down the red carpet. ✨

We’re proud to see our students sharing their talent, ideas and voices with the St. Louis community through art.

Every day matters. Every student matters.

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and at Saint Louis Public Schools, we’re reminding our entire community that showing up makes a difference.

Attendance is one of our Core Four priorities because every day in school gives students another opportunity to learn, grow and succeed. From strengthening reading and math skills to connecting with teachers and classmates, each day in the classroom helps prepare our students for the future.

Strong attendance is a team effort. Families, staff and community partners all play an important role — and when challenges make getting to school difficult, SLPS is here to help connect families with the support and resources they need.

This month and all year long, let’s continue building a culture where showing up matters.

SLPS Families, come out and support the SLPS Parent Action Council!

Join the SLPS Parent Action Council (PAC) for a fundraising event with St. Louis CITY SC on Sunday, September 20 at 4 p.m. Bring the family, show your SLPS pride, and enjoy an afternoon of soccer while supporting our school communities!

🎟️ $5 from every $18 ticket sold will go directly back to the SLPS Parent Action Council. Funds raised will help PAC support schools and PTOs, strengthen family engagement, and continue advocating for SLPS students and families.

The circus came to SLPS!

Students at Hamilton Elementary and Carr Lane Visual and Performing Arts Middle School got a special sneak peek of UniverSoul Circus and its high-energy “WE ALL BELONG” production!

The visit brought music, movement and plenty of excitement as performers shared a taste of the interactive experience that blends traditional circus arts with hip-hop, R&B, jazz, gospel and global culture.

Hamilton Elementary kindergartner Ky’mori Twiggs even joined in on the fun, dancing alongside UniverSoul Circus performers during their visit!

UniverSoul Circus will be in St. Louis September 2–13 at the Saint Louis Galleria.

What a fun way to bring joy, culture and unforgettable experiences directly to our students!

The first day of school is always something special!

Across SLPS, our students returned to classrooms ready to reconnect, learn and start a brand-new year.

Superintendent Dr. Myra Berry kicked off the morning welcoming students and staff, and the excitement continued throughout the day—from students being greeted by the St. Louis Blues mascot and cheerleaders at Hickey Elementary to karaoke and plenty of talent on display at Central Visual and Performing Arts!

Along the way, we shared smiles, visited classrooms, connected with students during lunch and heard from our school communities about how we can continue making the SLPS experience even better.

Most importantly, it was a day about our students and making sure they felt welcomed, supported and excited for what’s ahead.

Welcome back, SLPS! Here’s to a great year of learning, growing and achieving together.
