Be conscious that racial differences in medicine still affect how minority populations receive care. Get educated so we can close this health care gap!
A recent survey of 222 White medical students and residents showed that 50% of them endorsed at least one myth about the physiological differences between Black people and White people i.e. Black peopleโs nerve endings are less sensitive so they are less susceptible to pain. This makes them less likely to recommend appropriate treatments. One third of these DOCTORS believed that Black skin is just thicker than White skin.
Racial biases that people take with them to their jobs everyday continue to harm Blacks in frightening ways all over this country.

The healthcare system is stretched thin. My co-workers and I are tired and burnt out. We take extra patients and work extra shifts consistently due to minimal staff. Send some love and good vibes when you can.
The shut downs are not convenient but letโs remain diligent and get through this together. Everyone knows what they need to do. Wash your hands. Social distance...Itโs like a broken record at this point.
With all this being said, also make sure to do what is necessary for your mental health. Itโs getting cold but still go outside, exercise, meditate and do what is necessary to flourish.
'Scared of what's coming': Health care workers across St. Louis warn of rising COVID-19 infections Health care workers are tired and hospitals are seeing an influx of COVID-19 patients, said Dr. Akhtar, chief medical officer of Mercy Hospital South.
It is the time of the year where we reflect and say thank you to our loved ones. This year has been difficult and we need to spread joy when we can. The pandemic is still at fully force. Our country, communities and healthcare system feels this. It has been difficult working as a nurse during this time. Therefore, I want to give a big thank you to the healthcare community with the best gift to show PRIDE.

These notes meant the world to my co-workers and I! Healthcare staff are burnt out and tired. We are consistently working short staffed and there are a lot of sick people in the hospital with and without covid.
Last night was an especially hard night. But these notes, although a small gesture, brought huge smiles to our faces. Everyone kept their note because they made us so happy. Itโs the small things.
Donโt forget about healthcare workers in your lives. We all need the positivity right now.
I personally want to thank all health care workers for all the hard work they have put in during covid. The extra shifts, working short, and stress is not permanent. People do notice the dedication and are grateful. Be proud of how we have stepped up during this pandemic. It has been truly amazing to see us come together in this battle. ๐๐

Another shout out to two very special people! Anastasia has been a nurse but is transferring to start her ICU career. Alex is a med-surg nurse. Both have cared for patients. As a nurse in the covid ICU, I appreciate what you both do. It can be physically and mentally exhausting shifts between wearing the gear, taking care of extremely sick patients, and taking measures to protect yourself. Your service is appreciated and I recognize your sacrifice. Thank you for working so hard and doing what you do! Sending health ๐ฉ๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐จ๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ฉบ๐ฅ
