Blessed to spend time with my Georgia family. When our kids were little we started the tradition of making s’mores. Now it’s one of our annual 4th of July activities and they still enjoy doing it. , ,

First let say Happy Mother’s Day💕. My day yesterday was full of showing love to some of my nieces and nephews❣️Happy Birthday to my niece Mel(not pictured) may you continue to stay as sweet as you are. My niece Gabbie’s high school graduation and Mikhi’s prom send off. One more graduation on Monday and it’s a wrap. Congratulations to all the graduates❣️

Happy Sunday everyone❣️ Went to worship service with a sermon titled “Promise Walkers”-it’s not enough to just believe IN God, but you have to Believe God. This will promote action, your talk and response to things will change when you don’t just believe IN God, but believe God. He will provide you with a way to face challenges of broken promises of the world. Feeling blessed to be able to enjoy yet another beautiful day❣️

We took a long weekend to Lexington, Kentucky for the Kentucky Derby at Keeneland. During this past black history month our family historian, uncle Lee Robinson and designated black history facilitator at church gave a presentation about black jockeys and the major role they played in the beginning history of the Kentucky Derby. This peaked our interest….

So we visited Keeneland and Churchill Downs where some of the derby’s are held. We enjoyed the Black Heritage in Racing tour where we learned about black jockeys and the less known important people behind the scenes. The people who trained and cared for the horses and their contributions to what has stayed one of the biggest sporting events.

Did you know? At the first Kentucky Derby, in 1875, 13 of 15 jockeys were African American. Between 1890 and 1899, Black jockeys won six Derbies, one Preakness Stakes, and three Belmont Stakes. But in the early 1900s Black jockeys disappeared. Jimmy Winkfield was the last African American to win a Triple Crown race, in 1902. He was one of the last African Americans to ride in a Triple Crown race for almost a century. This is because they were eventually prevented from continuing to thrive by people and circumstances and soon they became history.

We are officially certified rock climbers! We took a 4 week class to properly learn how to safely climb. I have a fear of heights so this definitely took me out of my comfort zone, but it was so much fun!

Spent Easter with a small few of my nieces and nephews. I am tired, but I enjoyed attending church this morning and cooking and baking all day.
