Hereโs a simple scientific chart explaining how green plants make their own food using sunlight, carbon dioxide, water, and chlorophyll.
The diagram clearly shows how oxygen is released during the process.

Thanks to I Love The Universe for this most interesting & timely post!
Some nights feel different.
Quieter. Softer. Almost unreal.
And on May 31, the sky will give us one of those rare moments โ a Blue Moon.
Noโฆ the Moon will not actually turn blue.
The magic is hidden in its rarity.
A Blue Moon happens when two full moons appear within the same calendar month.
The first full moon of May lit up the sky on May 1stโฆ and now, on May 31st, the Moon returns once again โ something that only happens every few years.
And this one is even more special.
This will be the only Blue Moon of 2026 โ a rare lunar moment that wonโt happen again until 2027 (for the seasonal type) and not again as a monthly Blue Moon until the end of 2028.
But perhaps the most beautiful part of a Blue Moon is not the science.
Itโs the feeling.
For thousands of years, people have looked up at the Moon searching for meaning โ love, hope, answers, memories. And maybe thatโs why nights like this feel almost mysticalโฆ as if time slows down for a moment and the universe quietly reminds us how small, fragile, and connected we really are.
This Blue Moon is also a Micromoon, meaning the Moon will be slightly farther from Earth than usual, appearing a little smaller and dimmer in the sky.
Not dramatic enough for most people to noticeโฆ but somehow fitting.
A rare moon that asks you not to rush.
To stop.
To breathe.
To look up.
Because some celestial events are not just meant to be observed.
They are meant to be felt. โจ๐

Thanks to From Quarks to Quasars for this interesting & timely post!
May is ending with one of the rarest moons visible to the naked eye.
On May 30-31, the second full moon of the month will rise โ creating what astronomers call a Blue Moon. The last one happened in August 2023, and after this weekend, another wonโt occur until December 2028.
But this yearโs event comes with a twist.
At the same time the Blue Moon appears, all four of the brightest visible planets โ Venus, Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn โ will also be positioned in the sky across dawn and dusk.
Before sunrise, Mars and Saturn will glow low in the eastern sky. After sunset, Venus and Jupiter will appear in the west while the full moon dominates the night.
Despite its name, a Blue Moon isnโt actually blue. The term simply refers to the second full moon in a single calendar month.
Thatโs rare because the lunar cycle lasts about 29.5 days, making it difficult for two full moons to fit inside most months. On average, this only happens once every 2.5 years.
The alignment itself is mostly a matter of perspective. The planets remain separated by vast distances โ Jupiter alone sits roughly 365 million miles (588 million km) from Earth right now โ but from our viewpoint, they briefly appear to share the same sky.
