DIY Rainbow Light Show 🌈
Sometimes the best adventures are painted with light and laughter! This simple craft turns a flashlight and a cardboard tube into a dazzling rainbow projector.
You’ll need:
Empty cardboard tubes (toilet paper or paper towel rolls)
Cling film or plastic wrap
Rubber bands or tape
Permanent markers (bright colors)
Scissors
Flashlight or phone light
Craft stick or pencil (optional, for a handle)
A dark or dimly lit room
How to make it:
Cut the film lens
Cut a small square of cling film big enough to cover one end of the tube, with a little extra around the edges.
Color your rainbow
Use permanent markers to draw bold rainbow designs on the film—stripes, swirls, or colorful dots all work great.
Attach to the tube
Stretch the colored film over one end of the cardboard tube and secure it tightly with a rubber band or tape, making sure it’s smooth and taut.
Shine the light
In a dark room, shine your flashlight or phone light through the open end of the tube, sending the light through the colored film.
Put on the show
Gently rotate the tube or move the light to make dancing rainbow patterns on the walls and ceiling.
Add a handle (optional)
Tape or slide a craft stick or pencil into the bottom of the tube to make it easier for little hands to hold and spin.
Let your kids explore their colors and watch the rainbows dance around the room. It’s a delightful way to play with light, creativity, and cozy quality time-mess‑free and full of magic.

Starting seeds in water is a fun way to watch roots grow, and it’s something I like doing on a windowsill where I can keep an eye on them 🌱
🥑 Avocado is probably the most popular and one of the easiest to try
🍋 Lemon and apple seeds can sprout, but I’ve found they take a little patience
🍑 Peach and plum pits will grow, but they usually need more time than people expect
🍒 Cherry seeds can sprout, but not every one will take
🍇 Grape seeds are small but can still get going in the right conditions
🌰 Hazelnut and fig can root, though I’ve had mixed results with those
🌺 Passion flower is a fun one if you want something a little different
🍎 Pomegranate seeds are easy to try and usually pretty quick
I change the water every few days and keep them in bright light. Just keep in mind, not all of these will turn into fruiting plants, but they’re still fun to grow.

Make your own colorful swirl bounce balls at home!
Materials:
White school glue (PVA)
Borax powder
Warm water
Food coloring (gel works best for bold swirls)
Fine glitter (optional)
2 bowls
Measuring spoons
Spoon or craft stick
Paper towels
Directions:
In one bowl, mix ½ cup warm water with 1 tablespoon borax and stir until dissolved. Set aside.
In another bowl, add 1 tablespoon white glue, 2–3 drops of different food colors, and a little glitter if desired.
Slowly pour 1 tablespoon of the borax solution into the glue. Let it sit for about 10–15 seconds, then gently stir until it starts to clump together.
Lift the mixture out and roll it between your palms for 1–2 minutes until it forms a smooth ball. The more you roll it, the bouncier it becomes.
Place the ball on a paper towel and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before playing.
Tips:
Less stirring creates better swirl patterns. Gel food coloring gives brighter swirls, and adding silver or glow glitter makes fun galaxy-style bounce balls.
