For more than 50 years, Vicente Fernandez was revered as Mexico's greatest living singer, blending an operatic vocal range with the roots of ranchera.

"Vicente Fernandez: Un Azteca En El Azteca" is the Grammy-winning mariachi singer's historic farewell performance at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca. Filmed in 2016, the concert attracted a crowd of over 85,000 fans, creating a memorable send-off to the King of Ranchera.

Have you been following FIFA? There are some historical figures being made!

A 17-year-old Mexican just joined one of the most exclusive lists in football history. 🇲🇽✨

When Gilberto Mora stepped onto the field against Ecuador, he became the second-youngest player ever to start a FIFA World Cup knockout match. The only player to do it at a younger age was Pelé in 1958.

Mora started for Mexico at just 17 years and 259 days old. Pelé was 17 years and 239 days old when he made history for Brazil. The difference? Just 20 days.

The teenager from Tijuana has already broken records throughout his young career. He became the youngest player to represent Mexico at a World Cup, the youngest goalscorer in Liga MX history, and helped Mexico win the Gold Cup before even turning 17.

Now, his name sits alongside one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Mexico’s victory over Ecuador was historic on its own, ending a decades-long wait for a World Cup knockout win. But it also marked another milestone in the rise of a player many believe could become one of the faces of Mexican football for years to come.

Two names. One legendary list.

🇺🇸✨ Today we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to this country. On this Memorial Day, Hispanic Heritage Studies would like to shine a light on the extraordinary contributions of Hispanic Americans in the U.S. military. 🎖️

Hispanic Americans have fought and died for this country in every major conflict in U.S. history — often while facing discrimination at home. Their courage, sacrifice, and patriotism are a powerful and deeply important part of both American and Hispanic history.

Did you know? Hispanic Americans have been awarded the Medal of Honor more than any other minority group in U.S. history. 🌟 Their bravery on the battlefield is a legacy that deserves to be known and celebrated by every generation.

This Memorial Day, take a moment to share this piece of history with your children. Honoring those who served — and making sure their stories are told — is one of the most meaningful things we can do. 🙏🏽

But first — did you know that one of the most iconic looks in Star Wars history was inspired by Hispanic history? 🤯

George Lucas drew inspiration from the soldaderas — the fierce women soldiers of the Mexican Revolution — when he designed Princess Leia's famous double-bun hairstyle. In trying to create an anti-fashion, revolutionary look, Lucas told Time magazine that he "went with a kind of Southwestern Pancho Villa woman revolutionary look."

And Carrie Fisher said it best when she explained Princess Leia to the BBC in 1977: "George didn't want a damsel in distress, didn't want your stereotypical princess. He wanted a fighter, he wanted someone who was independent."

Sound familiar? The soldaderas were exactly that. 💪🏽🌟

The influence of Hispanic history and culture runs deeper than most people realize — even into a galaxy far, far away! 🌌
