ICYMI: The Monteiro Family Legacy was honored and celebrated at the 2025-2026 Golden Bear Wrestling Banquet.
Spanning nearly five decades, six family members have wrestled for Western New England University, occupying a spot on our roster for over 35% of our program’s history.

ICYMI: Max Bluhm & James Linder Jr. received The Co-Most Outstanding Wrestler Award at the 2025-2026 season banquet.
Bluhm, a junior from Factoryville, PA earned NCAA All Region and Scholar All-American honors in his second season as a Golden Bear. Tied for first on the team for winning percentage, Max owned a 24-8 record which included a 10-1 run in the second half of the season.
Max was the Champion at the Will Abele Invitational and finished top 6 at the Doug Parker & Racich Rumble Invitationals.
Max concluded the season by placing 7th at the NCAA Region 1 Tournament.
Linder, a sophomore from Montville, CT earned NCAA All Region and Scholar All-American honors for the second time in his career as a Golden Bear. He was a finalist at the Will Abele Invitational and finished top 6 at the Racich Rumble Invitational.
James concluded the season by placing 6th at the NCAA Region 1 Tournament.

ICYMI: Austin Monteiro received “The Joe Leto Greatest Contribution to Team Effort Award” at the 2025-2026 season banquet.
The senior from Wilbraham, MA ends his storied career as a Golden Bear. The two year captain earned NCAA All Region honors during his career and had wins over several NCAA National Qualifiers.
“Never out of the Fight”. He will always be remembered for his leadership, team first mentality and his ability to battle through adversity for himself and for his team. Continuing on the Monteiro Family Legacy, Austin was the 6th Monteiro to wear the Blue & Gold.

ICYMI: David Lisk received “The Joe Leto Greatest Contribution to Team Effort Award” at the 2025-2026 season banquet.
The senior from Manasquan, NJ went 27-9 in his senior season, leading the team in wins and pins (10). He was 2nd at the Scott Viera Open, 7th at the Will Abele Invitational and 5th at the NEWA Futures.
David won dual matches at 4 different weight classes during his college career (157, 165, 174, 184). David never shied away from a challenge and will always be remembered for his willingness to let it fly and step up for his team. David was the most improved wrestler last season, the Greatest Contribution to Team Effort this season and a 2x Scholar All American.

ICYMI: Teghan McConnell received “The Most Outstanding Newcomer Award” at the 2025-2026 season banquet.
The sophomore from Bedford, NH went 16-6 in his first season as a Golden Bear. He was 3rd at the Racich Rumble & 2nd at the Will Abele Invitational.
Teghan concluded the season with a 7th place finish at the NCAA Regional Championship and earned All Region and All New England honors.
