his Doctorate in Statistics from Rutgers University, where he taught both undergraduate and graduate-level math and statistics courses. He then worked for several years as a statistician. Eileen and Ray were motivated to open their first learning center in 1977 by their deep interest in teaching and the joy they received from working with students. They worked hard to develop and refine the curricula and instructional methodologies needed to work with a wide variety of students of all grades and needs. At the same time, they were successful in recruiting a strong, dedicated staff who shared their beliefs and interests. With this staff, they began opening additional centers in the New York and Philadelphia metropolitan areas. Beginning in 1985, they began offering others the opportunity to join the Huntington System as franchisees. Today, thanks to Huntington Learning Center's phenomenal success in helping students at every level, the company has grown to include hundreds of locations nationwide. Eileen and Ray still run the company with their able staff, many of whom have been with the company for decades."
