is FUN-but-MENTAL! Students in Bridgeport, CT Public Schools learn to drive a CAR through Langston Hughes’ poetry. They conduct a Critical, Analytical, and Rhetorical Analysis of the author’s words using Bailey’s Metatextual Markers and CLOSE reading process! Mrs. Silano makes sure that her students don’t get rear ended by rhetorical appeals or side-swiped by sentence structures while driving on the literacy lanes of literature. You won’t catch her students in a DUI-driving under the influence of illiteracy!

This week, my company From Pages to Pedagogy, LLC is exhibiting at the 2022 ASHA Convention. I am among 10,000 attendees who are Certified Speech/Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Facebook friends and family, I am because my lineage worked and willed me here! Thank you, Grandmothers Marguerite and Queed, Grandfathers Walter and Johnny, Mom, Virginia Myers Bailey, Dad, Walter Bailey, Aunts, Irene, Sarah, Virginia, Cecile, Marguerite, Uncle Parker, and a host of family who had a vision for my life. I must also thank Elder Luther T. Thomas and Deacon and Mother Monk, my New Haven based church family. May they look down from heaven and smile at the work they’ve done. I represent those who worked from can’t see in the morning until can’t see at night. And of course, I thank our Almighty God, who took a chubby little Black girl from the ghetto of New Haven, CT and placed me in the national and international arenas. I’m a witness that God works miracles! Just look at Servant Dr. Beryl Irene Bailey. I will continue in the legacy in which I was born. I will serve!🙏🏾🧠
