"Chattel Afrodite R***d By a VISIBLY INVISIBLE Woodpecker".
Acrylic on canvas; 45"x30";

During African slavery, the slavemaster would visit the slave quarters on a monthly basis, when his wife was indisposed. His objective would be to satiate his purient carnal desires at the expense of my great-grandmother for whose humanity he had no regard. He perceived her as chattel; his material property, objects that could be bought, sold and abusively violated at his whim.
My great-grandmother would put up a fight, resisting in anyway possible. Her most frequent method of resistance was to tightly cross her legs. However, this purient libertine scoundrels frequently got his way, the evidence of which is seen in the range of skin colors of westernized Africans throughout the western hemisphere.

In this painting, I have depicted the clandestine maneuvering of the "woodpecker" that has succeeded in penetrating the vigorous defenses of my great-grandmother, making the him VISIBLY INVISIBLE.

He is difficult to find, covertly disguised in his location, but logical thinking, and clever detective vision will make him (the woodpecker) detectable to the inquisitive, searching eye.
