HELLO EAGLE FAMILY - we hope you will join us for our closing celebration, 6p-Saturday, May 23rd in the Dueitt Cafeteria.

We look forward to hearing about your time at Dueitt and a massive performance of “America the Beautiful” - the building will ring with music and song in a final farewell.

Dueitt MS Celebration Concert & Reunion Event We are planning a special Celebration Concert and Reunion featuring all current/former faculty and alumni. This will be a time to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate the decades of memories created at Dueitt. Please fill out the form if you are interested in participating in the event.

On Wednesday, March 25th, the DMS band appeared for their last UIL Concert & Sight-reading evaluation and we wanted to share their results.

The Concert Band (Sub Non-Varsity) earned a 1st Division “Superior” rating in Concert and a 2nd Division “Excellent” rating in SR. According to what we have been told, this is the first time in school history a third band went to UIL - we could not be more proud!

Symphonic Band (Non-Varsity) earned Sweepstakes, straight 1s, for the second consecutive year.

The Wind Ensemble (Varsity) earned Sweepstakes with straight 1s in both Concert & Sight-reading, for the 3rd consecutive year. One of their selections was John Philip Sousa’s, “The Washington Post,” as scored for the United States Marine Band.

We received a standing ovation from a group of middle and high school students in the audience and members of both judging panels personally congratulated us.

We are VERY proud of our students hard work, grateful to their parents, our mentors, clinicians, and administrators - all had a part in today’s history-making success!

The Dueitt Band’s last year has been one of its best years!

SPECIAL THANKS to our mentors: Mr. Stan Mauldin and Mr. Trent Cooper, our clinicians: Dr. Brian Gibbs, and Mrs. Charlotte Royall, along with Master Teachers: Anahi Nanez (FL), James Roberson (BSN), Ashley Watson (SAX), Tom Tillotson (TPT), Erick Baez (HRN), Jose Fuentes (TBN), William Brown (TBA), and Stephen Araujo (PRC).

As mentioned in the December post, we are inviting all former DMS Band Staff and Students to have a share in celebrating over 50 years of Dueitt history prior to the campus closure this Spring.

Pending approval, our proposed date is Saturday, May 23, 2026 (6-7pm).

We have chosen to end the program with “America, The Beautiful” arranged by Carmen Dragon for band and choir. Anyone wishing to perform may access the music using the link provided in the Google form below. There is opportunity for everyone to play or sing - the more the better!

Additionally, we are hoping to collect a large digital album of pictures/videos spanning the decades and showcasing your experience at Dueitt.

📣 Important Announcement for the Dueitt MS Band Family & Community

At tonight's district board meeting, it was officially decided (5-2 vote) that Dueitt Middle School will close at the end of this school year. While this news is emotional for many of us, we are committed to honoring the incredible legacy of our campus, our students, and the many educators who helped shape our community.

We are planning a special Celebration Concert (May?) featuring former band directors, alumni, and current/previous teaching staff. This will be a time to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate the decades of memories created at Dueitt.

A Google Form will be posted shortly for those who would like to perform, speak, or participate in the celebration program. Please stay tuned for that link.

We are also gathering photos, stories, and memorabilia to include in the official program. If you have anything you’d like to share, we would love to include it.
