Well, we are almost to Spring Break. All next week, we are having Performance Lessons--an outcome of the COVID problem. I used to have Performance Class with just the students here in my studio. Because of COVID, I now have Performance lessons, and invite parents and family members to the lessons to hear our progress. It should be fun. Everybody is ready!🙂

I'm still on holiday until next Wednesday. I start back teaching on the 5th. I have been getting organized by getting my attendance book in order. I need to organize my theory tests, to prepare for the spring testing.
Another recital in the books! I had 17 on program today for our annual Christmas Recital. It went extremely well--I am so proud of everybody for the way they played! One more week of lessons, and then Christmas Break!
We are busy preparing for Performance Lessons the week of October 18th. Also, the state theory exam will be November 6th-14th. I will have 13 students taking the test. Wish us well!
Two more weeks of summer lessons--then a week off, and then school begins again. Where has the summer gone? No recital this year, so I can just coast in for the next two weeks. It will feel strange, but what can you do? Not enough students here to participate--all gone on vacation. So--I will just go on vacation, too. Roy and I are going to have a staycation. There are lots of places in Houston that we have not been yet!
Unfortunately, I have decided to cancel my Summer, 2021 Recital. Not enough participation this year! That's the first time I have had to cancel a student recital! So, we are memorizing two recital-worthy pieces for the summer, for a special award. Hope the kids like it!
Assigning new music, in order to be ready for the Summer Recital. August 6th is the date, so not that much time to prepare. Wish me well!
End of another great year. Two recitals this year--my entire class, and 5 of my high school students. The first one went great--second one is on June 5th. It will feature Owen Shortt, Tia Malott, Aiden Jenkins, Adah Chamberlain, and Alexia Mougoue. Owen has been my student for 11 years! Adah for 9! These are great kids, and I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching each one of them. Very musical and talented!
COVID-19 has made life very different in my piano studio. There are still 4 of my students who are taking online lessons, but the rest have come back to live lessons. We did not have a spring recital--first time in 47 years! We will not have a summer recital--first time again. For the summer, we are preparing 2 solo pieces for each student, and will perform them for parents at the last summer lesson--whenever that is! I still do not know when school will be starting back up, so everything is up in the air. Just gotta keep on plugging along until things calm down again.
Unfortunately, it looks like I will not be having a spring studio recital this year, for the first time in over 40 years! Thank you, Wuhan! We WILL, however, be having Guild Auditions, albeit on Zoom. Hoping that goes well. I have 15 students enrolled for auditions--13 ten-piece programs, and 2 fifteen-piece programs. Say a little prayer that they go well.
Well, because of a little Chinaman, I am teaching online lessons on FaceTime. Guess every piano teacher in the world is doing the same thing. This too shall pass!
