🎼 New blog post! 🎼

Have you ever wondered what makes Baroque music sound so grand and ornate? Or why composers like Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel are still studied hundreds of years later?

In my newest blog post, we're taking a journey back to the Baroque period to explore:

🎵 What makes Baroque music unique

🎵 The lives and music of Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel

🎵 The beautiful keyboard instruments that came before the piano, including the clavichord and harpsichord

🎵 Musical terms every piano student should know, like basso continuo, ornamentation, and terraced dynamics

Whether you're a piano student, a parent, or simply someone who loves learning about music history, I hope you'll enjoy it!

I'd love to know—which Baroque composer is your favorite?

Selections from the Piano Prep Academy’s Spring Recital!

The Piano Prep Academy holds two recitals a year. One is in May/June and the other is in November/December.

Learning to perform in front of an audience is an important skill for all students! We think of it as a "celebration" to showcase all of the hard work the students have put in!

This recital from June 17th was performed at Lipscomb University!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce the pianos in my studio!

First of all, my Kawai grand! I sold my first upright to buy this baby grand. The piano was kept at an elderly lady's home. When I got it, it even had some sparkles on it from the Christmas ornaments that it was decorated with! This piano is now played a lot - by myself and my students!

My newest piano is my Yamaha upright! This piano is my "upstairs" piano. I primarily teach beginning students on this piano. My Yamaha has a fun past - Jerry Lee Lewis and a few other performers played on it!

If you or a friend are looking for lessons, I am currently accepting new students! You can contact me here, or through my website: www.thepianoprepacademy.com.
